Guest guest
here are results: Bj/anyone, can you please comment on the FT3/4 ratio. i know there has been much discussion about ft3and ft 4 ratio as of late. FT4 1.1 (0.8 to 1.8) FT3 2.7 (2.2 to 4.0) TSH 3.865: note this has been bouncing between 1.8 and close to 7 for six years now and I have gone untreated. 90% of the time it is >4. As a reminder I have been diagnosed with hashi's 7 years ago (TPO >2000) and Bj and I have gone back and forth on whether I could possible have Graves. My endo never answered my internist on this question and she is sending me to a new endo. P.S. also, as mentioned below, when FT3 is calculated the " old fashioned " way by multiplying the two values - depending on who your source is -- my FT3 is 105. here you go... Thank you for any insight you have into FT3/4 ratio. --- FT3 Calculation Date: Mon, 31 Aug 2009 13:54:42 -0400 To: Thyroiditis Bj ( I know you might be especially interested in this) and anyone else, as i wrote you several weeks ago, Bj, I brought in your brilliant email to my internist at today's appointment ie could i possibly have graves/hashis (do you remember that email)? what my internist (whom I adore; it's the endo I cannot stand) told me was that the person who " invented " the FT3 and FT4 test was a doctor at the hospital I go to in Boston. Two values are multiplied. I have to go to my notes later to give you more details and she said that there is controversy among the endos whether this is a better way to measure FT3 or the " straight up " FT3 test. Apparently, my FT3 last time was checked by the multiplication of the two lab values but this time she sent in for a straight FT3. It will be interesting to see the difference in the two lab values. Have you ever heard of this? Anyway, I will give you more detail if you are interested later. I will find the names of the thyroid values that are multiplied, etc. I am completely overwhelmed and exhausted right now (I now have three possible diagnoses and I feel like my head could explode). BTW, Bj I told my internist what an incredible mother you were and how you saved your child's life. She was very moved by this. will tell you more later. cathy
