Guest guest
I used to be told the problem with me was my circadian rhythms were off and all I had to do was learn to sleep at night and stay awake all day and voila, I'd be well again. Guess what? I sleep fine these days while remaining symptomatic enough to be unable to work or even make dinner, must avoid standing or sitting upright and still, use a recliner like other disabled people use a wheelchair, as medical tool, can't take baths but every once in a while, and need baths because can't stand up for a shower among other symptoms. Interesting her insurance company told her to have her circadian rhythms checked out. The phrase, circadian rhythm, refers to the 24 hour cycle of living beings which includes sleep, appetite, etc. Here's a link about circadian rhythm sleep disorder: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circadian_rhythm_sleep_disorder The insurance company wants your sister to see doctors for her sleep disorder in case this will lead to help for her overall. Being able to sleep is tremendously important, helps a lot in many ways. It's not necessarily the be all and end all for CFS. I was able to sleep by taking more and more electrolytes and once I took enough of those (the RDA of magnesium, calcium, potassium/doctor- prescribed, sodium in several doses a day) for a long enough time, adding an amino acid, 5 HTP was a bloomin' miracle for me. I take much less of all of the above now, years later, still sleep very well. toni > Hi, I am new to the group and am on here for my sister who has had > CFIDS for about 22 years (since age 16).
