Guest guest
Hi Bj, I am reading and reading studies and the posts and everything i can get my hands on about hypo and hashi. I am tired of learning so I can educate the docs. I found a new one, holistic, but I don't know how good she is / yet. I am asking myself / how can I learn so much about my illness, when i have brain fog, or am so tired that I hardly can keep up with making something to eat for myself, or have blurry eyes and hardly can see the letters on the paper? I reduced my medication because I had a fast heart rate and my muscles felt strange, and read about progesterone and DHEA / mine is very high. I do not understand the thing with Cortisol. I only found one article on DHEA high blood level. Everyone talks about supplements. I know it lowers Cortisol level. But in the end, I don't really know what to do with all the info. I write everything down, that applies to me and then I will bring it to the next doc. visit. Hi Carol, It says on the lab result sheet that my doc ordered Phosphorus, 25-OH-Vitamin D and 1, 25 Dihydroxy D, Ionized Calcium, Parathyroid Hormone (PTH), Magnesium, CA/P ratio, and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP). If you need to know what labs are included in the CMP, let me know. He didn't like the ratio the lab came up with so he crossed it out and calculated it himself. Also, on follow-up testing he omitted the Ca/P ratio, but wrote it in on the lab sheet. Hopefully this is helpful to you. I just re-read my notes from him on D. He said, the 25-OH_D is important because it breaks out total 25-OH-D and individual levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3. 1, 25 Dihydroxy is just as important as D, 25. D, 25 only provides part of the picture. High levels of 1,25-D, which can be found in people with inflammation or diseases that cause inflammation - inhibit the conversion of vitamin D (1.25 D) into 25-D. Also this test is useful when calcium or PTH is high. HTH, ~Bj P.S. I was able to find a study he referenced online. Evidence that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 inhibits the hepatic production of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in man. http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pmcentrez & artid=425325 > > > > >> > > > > Vitamin D2 0> > > > > > > > > > Vitamin D3 19> > > > > > > > > > Total Vitamin D 19 (32-100 ng/mL)> > > > > > > > > > How much D3 should I take? Guest guest
I take 4000 IU twice a day—recommended by my doctor-I live in sunny NC- From: Thyroiditis [mailto:Thyroiditis ] On Behalf Of Jeff & Steph Sent: Monday, January 18, 2010 10:42 PM To: Thyroiditis Subject: Re: Re: Vitamin D test result, then how much to take for supplementation? If that is true I am in trouble because I was told to take 5000 IU. I am thinking if 1,400IU of Vit D is too low dose, but I read some old-fashioned nutriology book, which said that 2000IU is the maximum dose for a person! Any exceeded dose will do harm, is it true?
