Guest guest
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions By Jeanie Marshall In all parts of our lives, we must make decisions. Little decisions, big decisions, monumental decisions. Some decisions are so natural that we may not even consider them decisions. Decisions are choices. Decisions focus our attention. A HIGHER VIBRATION It is not your imagination, there truly is an influx of creative energy. The energy is a lighter, finer vibration. With it come so many ideas and possibilities that we must be more selective than ever. As we continue to gain greater mastery over the physical plane, we are able to make grander and grander decisions. It is important to let go of old paradigms of rules and decisions and decision-making processes. For example, you might want to let fear-based decisions become obsolete in your experience. Let them be part of an old paradigm. Now, that is really something special to look forward to creating! To live in the new paradigm, we must become more aware, more conscious in all aspects of our lives. It is a time of enlightenment, of lightening up, of light. Freedom accompanies enlightenment. Empowering humor lifts us into this higher vibration. Kindness and listening and empathy are also companions in this new paradigm. In addition to becoming more conscious of the content of our decisions, we must become aware of the consciousness with which we make our decisions. As we increase our awareness of our decision-making process and the actions that follow our decisions, we also enhance our understanding of the decision itself. As you reflect on your own personal experiences over the last, say, three months, consider the decisions you have chosen to make. You may, of course, feel that you were forced to make some of these decisions. Consider, also, HOW you made those decisions. DECISIONS ON BASIC NEEDS We make conscious choices related to basic needs. Where to live? What to eat? How much to eat? Whether or not to lock a door or a drawer? In most parts of the world over the last few years, we have been challenged with life-threatening and/or lifestyle- threatening events or conditions. Dramatic environmental circumstances get our attention and help us clarify what is important. We slow down and re-evaluate when the wind-chill factor is -60° or after an earthquake destroys a bridge on a major route. DECISIONS ON RELATIONSHIPS We constantly make decisions about and in relationships. These need to be more conscious. To enter, stay, or leave a personal relationship? Where, when, and how much to give emotionally? When to say " no " ? How to manage the boss? Who to trust with confidential information? Every relationship we engage in has the potential to teach us deeply about ourselves. We may seek out a relationship because we are intrigued by the other person. Yet, the real reason for engaging is to discover more deeply about ourselves. DECISIONS ON LIVELIHOOD AND LIFESTYLE Decisions related to livelihood and lifestyle must also be made consciously. How to balance personal and professional time? How aligned is job with life mission? Are we ready to give up the drudgery, the struggle? How can joy be brought into all aspects of life? We have all come to earth to be someone special and to do something special. We are not here by accident (in spite of careless parental comments). We are not here to generate money (in spite of organizational objectives and consensus beliefs). We are here to fulfill a higher purpose. It is essential that we all recognize and accept our mission and play it out in a joyous way. The way in which we live -- our lifestyle -- also needs to be in harmony with our mission. As the higher vibrations of love and peace integrate with the denser vibrations that we have experienced on the planet, fears drop away. Fear or greed will not motivate us to accumulate material possessions. We will live differently knowing that all our needs are provided in the perfect time. DECISIONS ON GLOBAL ISSUES Each of us makes personal choices about global issues. How to see the planet as a living, breathing organism that needs to be nurtured? What actions to take that support sustaining life on earth? How to relate to homelessness, poverty, hunger as global issues rather than isolated, personal issues? Sometimes we confuse a global issue with a local or individual one. We may believe that conflict in Belfast, Northern Ireland or Bosnia is something we must get involved with simply because we know about it from the media. While we all impact each other, as individuals we still get to choose where we place our attention. DECISIONS ON AND FROM SPIRIT We all have to make the ultimate decision, within our own depth about our relationship to the Divine. In what position to place Spirit or God or a Higher Power? How much of our spiritual life to expose? How much to trust inner guidance? Humanity is becoming more aware of Spirit. We can no longer hide who we are. It is a powerful, exciting, wondrous time. It is a time to make a choice for Spirit. We are Spirit. DECISIONS MADE WITH HIGH INTENTION Decisions made with the intention that they serve the highest good of all concerned have a rich quality. It is a quality far different from a decision made from fear or greed or habit or peer pressure. Clients often ask my advice on a decision facing them. Sometimes I express an opinion; more often I offer a variety of suggestions. And more and more I am finding myself saying, " The final decision you make is not nearly as important as the consciousness with which you make this decision.
