Alice proved to be in person all of things which I had projected upon her throught the computer. I believe I am a better person for having met her! And, on top of all that, you may even get a chance to play with Gazooks! I still listen to the tape that we made of my reading and after countless listenings, pick up on new things or different meanings. I also use the Liz Greene web site at www.astro.com although it is not an intuitive reading it is a valuable resource for learning about all of the different aspects from a Jungian point of view. There is even a page where you can click on the chart and have a description of the chosen aspect pop up on your screen. (I have a thing for gadgets) I found even another great way of memorizing all of the symbols at: http://zone.msn.com/alchemy/default.asp Serious alchemy it is not, but hey, we all need to lighten up once in a while........... Guest guest
I had a lot of bleeding early in my pregnancy, so much so the doctor thought that I was having a miscarriage. When I went into the office and she saw all the blood she was sure. Until she did the ultrasound and there was my daughters heartbeat very strong. The bleeding stopped with rest and keeping my feet up. They told me I had a low lying placentia and that is what was bleeding. I had other problems, a double layer amniotic sac and they thought I had amniotic bands floating around in there also. Guest guest
Barb, I totally agree. I didn't know about that statistic until a friend told me that she heard that and remembered the spotting I had early on. She told me that she felt that Joe was fighting from that moment to be with us. We agree and he has been a fighter ever since. He is such a miracle. Question > I have been looking back over my pregnancy with ph, now 4 months. I experienced spotting during the first 8 or so weeks of my pregnancy. It was very scary at the time. I was having an ultrasound every week in those early days to make sure everything was okay. The doctor was never able to give any reason for the spotting. After reading back over the materials on the website, Joe's MDS probably occurred very early in the 4 cell stage because 3/4 of his cells have 47 chromosomes and 1/4 have 46. I was wondering if this spotting could have been occurring at the same time this " copying error " was occurring in the pregnancy. I'm not a medical person, but my husband and I were just discussing it last night. I thought I'd ask if any of the other MDS mothers experienced any spotting during the early months of their pregnancy. > > >

Guest guest
You want to include all applicable and appropriate pre-transplant evaluation costs in your KACC. Per the regs, you get reimbursed for eval costs when the patient receives a transplant and your standard organ acquisition charge is posted to their account. Medicare pays for organ acquisition for Medicare-primary patients through the Cost Report, commercial payers pay for theirs as billed. You should ask the person in your organization who works with the Medicare Cost Report about how it works. Fred L. Forsthoffer, MBA Financial Analyst Banner Good Samaritan Transplant Services , , F- Question Hello everyone, I am interested in how other programs handle this scenario: a commercial payer wants to reimburse pre-transplant charges as they are incurred. Is it advisable to accept these payments, and keep the charges out of the Kidney Cost Center (KCC)? If, on day of transplant, commercial payer remains primary, you would bill the transplant in accordance with terms of the contract; while you have already been paid for the direct work-up costs, hopefully you have provisions built into the transplant rate to cover the " other " components of acquisition costs. If COB flips primary to Medicare at time of transplant, it is now a Medicare kidney and affects the ratio, which is then multiplied by all pre- costs (line 53 of Worksheet D-6 part III) to arrive at the Medicare Cost...but if you never included reimbursed work-up costs in KCC this should not be construed as an overpayment from Medicare. However, line 58 deducts " Revenue for Organs Sold " on Medicare kidneys ....but if you don't charge KCC in the first place can you say " 0 " for line 58? As best I can tell from Worksheet D-6 instructions and 42 CFR 412.100, such an approach would be in compliance with directives and policy. Would appreciate any thoughts on this matter. Thank you. Guest guest
I'm confused on the difference between hypothyroid treatment, HT,....how do they treat the antibodies? And in my case its seems like with the 4 stages of cancer and I've got the worst case scenario. Having most every symptom and all severe. -- Re: Re: My endo wants to kill me!!!! the nodules in your thyroid are consistent with Hashi's. No perioxidase antibody drawn? How can he tell if you're Hashi's without an antibody? T3 and T4 will almost ALWAYS be low normal in a Hashi's patient. It's the antibody they need to be concerned about. Yeah, I'd dump this guy, lol. Amybeckyjov <beckyjov> wrote: , I also wanted to mention that the labs look as though you have high T4 and high T3 levels with a low TSH –this normally means you are HYPER. But the numbness symptom indicates HYPO. Please post your symptoms and a bit of history. Plus the doc didn't even use the same tests consistently. You could possibly be having an upward swing in to hyper-land, which happens a lot with Hashi patients. Note that Graves and Hashi symptoms can overlap one another. With Hashi's you can go from Hypo to Hyper while your gland is burning out. Graves and Hashi's are just the extremes of each other and eventually Graves patients become Hashi patients. Or you could have some other problem that is causing this to happen. Bottom line you need a good doc and I realize it is easier said than done. Where do you live, there are places to look for good docs -that's how I finaly found mine. Many GP's can treat T disease much better than Endo's. I am a prime example of why not to go to an Endo. You probably need your diet, adrenals and iron levels checked as well. I drive 2 hours to my dr, he is a GP and a biochemist and after ten plus years with many frogs (Endo's and many other biased dr's} I am starting to feel like myself again with this dr's guidance. I have lost 31#'s (still have 47#'s to go) and am regaining my energy and my life while lowering my T meds. I am will be 43 in a few weeks and feel better now than I did when I was thirty. So there is hope...... as I still have a ways to go with Adrenal Fatigue and early on set of Menopause with hardly any DHEA, very low Testosterone, low Estrogen, and low Progesterone.HTH, BJ> >> > Hello!> > > > Lab Results: 1/06 > > TSH .56 (.40-4.0)> > Thyroxine Total 12.7 (5.0-10.8)> > > > 3/06> > TSH .58 (.40-4.0) > > Thyroxine Total 15.7 (5.0-10.8)> > T3 Resin Uptake 23 (27-39)> > T3 Total 1.84 (.60-1.81)> > FTI 3.6 (1.4-4.2)> > > > 6/06> > TSH .21 (.40-4.0)> > Thyroxine Total 17.2 (5.0-10.8)> > T3 Resin uptake 27 (27-39)> > FTI 4.6 (1.4-4.2)> > > > FNA: 1.25 cm nodule> > > > Thyroid, right lobe, USG FNA: hurthle cell lesion-see comment.> > > > Comment: Few lymphoid cells noted, suggesting lymphocytic > > (hashimoto's) thyroiditis. Guest guest
I can't offer any knowlege, but I can empathise with you. I was given a very rosy picture when my diagnosis was first made, but certain things were missed. My first visit to the hepatologist was in such haste that my latest ct scan wasn't in his hands and contained evidence of portal hypertension, that when pieced together with my symptoms, revealed a worse looking picture. My meld score was 9 at the time, but as it went down as the months passed, so did my quality of life. The pain deepened, the confusion worsened, I got very tired, Lost a total of 100 lbs, started itching much worse, I developed air in the lining of my colon, which I believe is from a lack of oxygen in my organs. They are saying I have hepatopulmonary syndrome, but it is not severe enough for a meld exception, at least not yet, but when I start to die from it, then it might become a contraindication to a liver transplant. Ironic, huh? I do wish you luck in your quest. I will pray you and your family. sincerely, Bobby Question Hi! Normally I am one of those that just hangs in the background. A big believer in mind over matter, I am always trying to stay positive and just deal with all of this on a day by day basis. I have gone through the evalutation process for a transplant and been told that I am in good enough shape to receive a transplant, but right now my meld score is a 10. There seemed to be a growth what they described as a cluster of small cysts in my liver and my Alpha-feta protein test is slowly going up. I have that blood test done every two months and a extensive MRI done every 6 months to watch for growth in that cluster. A little over a year ago I had my first endoscopy done and the second today. The first showed varices, but they won't do the banding or tips due to such low platelets. The transplant team has my community gastro do the endioscopy locally, and this is a dr. that I trust completely. Today when he finished the endioscopy, he dropped a bit of a bomb on me. He believes that he saw cancer cells in my esphogasus. He stated a couple of times that it took every bit of self disciplne to not do a biopsy, but due to the possibility of bleeding, he could not. Keep in mind that I have worked with this dr. for the past 9 years, his bedside manner is great, and he literally takes the time to explain eerything to me. For this dr. to make the statement and show me the pic that he says appears to be a cancer, is making a very blunt statement. Tomorrow I will contact Northwestern and talk to one of the nurses on the transplant team, but needless to say, my mind is so full of questions at this given moment. My question to the group is -- has anyone ever heard of this occurring before and if so.......... ..what came next? My next question, if this is ot related to the liver, will it knock me off of the list. I believe that if it is related to the liver, that means that it has spread and that may also knock me off of the list. Scared is puting it mildly...... .......I am a single mom of three at 48 years old, and right now, could use some good news! I believe that if it is related to the liver, that means that it has spread and that may also knock me off of the list. Scared is puting it mildly.............I am a single mom of three at 48 years old, and right now, could use some good news! Judy _ --------------------------------- Got a little couch potato? Guest guest
Hi Alana, Tennessee. We have an indoor smoking ban which has made going out to eat much more pleasant. Now, nearby Virginia is working on one. The town I live in sits on the border of Tennessee/Virginia. I live about 2 blocks from the state line. God bless you!
