Guest guest
Hi, -- I just wanted to make a quick mention in case you hadn't run into the arguments against these theories below... the toxin/waste stuff tends be a trendy theory in some holistic health care communities (I automatically think of Los Angeles) -- and not to say I know none of it is true -- but what I do know is that when I tried some of the " yeast cleansing " remedies, I suffered big time. (I've also read about people getting serious infections from colon cleansing.) Other folks on lists like these have told me people with Hashis should not be using a lot of " immune enhancing " stuff... even such herbs as echinacea. So if you proceed, PLEASE do so slowly and be careful.. your immune system is confused enough already. Guest guest
Hi, , thanks for your input. Toxin/waste stuff is gaining interest from people now -- e.g., the curezone website I mentioned before is so popular, they have to move it to a company that can provide more bandwidth to support hundreds of simultaneous users. But that is not to say that trendy is a wholly accurate term for describing this stuff. After all, fasting was used by Jesus and his contemporaries, and people have been using parasite remedies and the like for thousands of years. I'm not sure what kind of yeast cleaning remedy you reacted badly to, but I also felt worse when I introduced a probiotic. I developed an allergic reaction to it, but then I am allergic to EVERYTHING these days. I don't think that necessarily means I am on the wrong track. A wholistic consultant in another support group suggested that many people have to start one step back -- with a prebiotic instead of a probiotic. I've had a series of colonics myself, and it was wonderful, though of course you could get an infection if the practioner did not practice scrupulous hygiene. You are quite right that my immune system is confused. I do not have Hashi's but have to proceed with caution because of my hypersensitivity. If you would like to share more of what happened to you with the yeast-cleaning remedy, I would be interested -- here or offline. Guest guest
Hi -- my main experience with trying to kill off yeast to get rid of recurring infections was to starve myself of carbs, sugars and all the other stuff they say yeast feed on... then to try a product called Grapefruit Seed Extract. The combination of these things and not knowing I was hypothyroid made me severely ill and I wound up in the hospital. I see GSE is still touted as having no harmful side effects... I'm convinced it was this substance in particular that really made me ill. It occurs to me that I never wrote them a complaint letter... I need to do that. I did call them upon which they revealed that this stuff isn't made from grapefruit at all. I still suffer from yeast infections and now when I get them I do absolutely nothing diet wise except to eat nutritious foods, avoid sugar but not be manic about it, and eat yogurt. More importantly I use an herbal suppository developed by a gynecologist.. I can't remember the name of it now, I just know where to get it... it has calendula, boric acid and some other things. I use this at first sign of infection and it usually takes care of it. The important part is to start treatment early and not get paranoid over it. The colonic-related infections I read about were intestinal infections from bacteria in the colon being forced up into the lower intestinal tract. > If you would like to share more of what happened to you with the > yeast-cleaning remedy, I would be interested -- here or offline. Guest guest
Hi -- Wow, sorry that happened to you! I've actually never heard of GSE for candida. You are lucky you can eat yogurt; I am horribly allergic to it. Also you're lucky to have such a holistic gyno; the product you describe is the kind of thing people in the lists to which I referred use. I wish something like that were available here. A colonic should be done by a professional (or you can do a colema yourself), and they have to put some pressure on your ileocecal valve to close it before starting. Compared to other health treatments, colonics are quite safe, but whenever you use any kind of medical intervention, you run a certain risk. Then again, you can also run a risk by doing nothing. All the best, > > If you would like to share more of what happened to you with the > > yeast-cleaning remedy, I would be interested -- here or offline.
