I have spoken with my Doc over and over and she tells .>> First, I am puzzled by the choice of epivir and ziagen in an experienced patient, but there may be some logic. It is an unusual choice. Now, the hump/weight thing. A 100 pound weight gain is pretty impressive, and I am sure it is having an effect on your life and happiness. Throw in lipodystrophy, and I'm sure the combination is terrible. No question about that! I don't think that any HAART drugs cause people get fat, though they may have some impact on how and where that fat is deposited, and people do gain back health if they were sick before. I would never want to minimize the difficulty of controlling weight; it is just not something our species is really designed to do, evolution has prepared us for scarcity, not surplus. Still, I think that the weight issue remains easier to deal with than lipodystrophy, for which answers are really frustrating. Before trying liposuction on the hump again, I would really recommend addressing the excess pounds. Should you later decide to go to surgery, the ultimate result will be better, anyway. Many people with lipo are trying Atkins type diets. Ever done that? To what do you attribute the new weight issue? I do think that that is the place to start.
