Guest guest
What Controls You? by Jane “Who’s in control, you or your emotions?†When you allow your emotions to enter into discussions over conflicting opinions or positions, you cloud the issues and detract from your argument. Even if you have a valid point of view, it becomes cloaked in feelings, which reduce its connection to rational thought. You risk losing the other person’s respect. When you’re emotional you end up handing control to those who are in charge of their emotions. Next time conflict arises, stay calm. Bite your tongue, silently count to ten, take a deep breath and state your position in an objective and unemotional manner. Remember, there is a time and a place for showing your emotions. And, powerful people keep their feelings undercover until the time is right. Reflecting A time comes in each of our lives when we need to stop and reflect.Have our days here been fruitful ...been all that we should expect? Do we give all to the things which are making up our days?Or have we simply drifted along ...being slack in some of our ways? We go about our chosen tasks, working busily all day long. Then wonder at the end of day why we got so little done. Sometimes it's so easyto watch the days go drifting by.Soon it will be too late for changes, because we didn't even try. When we finally stop to reflecton the kind of life we've lived, hopefully we can honestly say...I did give all I had to give. Virginia Archerrevised04-12 Thanks Virginia What you do, do with joy If you’re going to be doing something, do it with joy. Even if it’s not normally a joyful activity, you can add your own unique joy to it. You can always choose to be positive and enthusiastic about life. No person, circumstance, or sequence of events can keep you down. If you constantly fight against what you’re doing, you’ll make yourself miserable and you’ll destroy your effectiveness. That’s certainly not an outcome you would willingly choose. So choose instead to put your own unique joy into whatever you’re doing. Make the experience a positive one just because you can. Yes, there are plenty of problems and tragedies and no, life is not always pleasant. That’s precisely why it’s so powerful and important for you to add as much joy as possible to life. In every activity and in every tiny corner of your world, put a little extra joy. You’ll quickly find it makes a big, big difference.
