Guest guest
Well, that was a good observation Ashok, but to tell U..,in our batch, only 3 Biggies, meaning the organisers or the core committee members,Brajpal Tyagi,Irfan and Viju...were on phone, most of the times.. to plan the next move for our troops. ......while most of them, had not brought their cellphones.., ...some top Obgyns..were trying to guide, their Fullterm fully dilated worried patients, back home, to one or the other of their colleagues.. That I guess..cant be helped,today...Ashok... Chalta hain..I guess.. Guest guest
Shyam I would agree with Ashok. Mobiles in India are like appendages-when mansculpture in India is seen in a thousand years time they will wonder yeh kaan ke pas ek side pe kya hai??? Jokes apart its a cultural thing-in the middle of a meal/doctors consultation/even funeral service its a ubiquitous interruption.None of the phones have answer machine messages/voice mail and if you dont pick it up at first try everyone gets offended-Mobile kyon nahi uthaaya.Thank god some of the malls have deadpatches I just blame them. I think becoz hamaare yahan privacy is not an issue-I remember a few years back my mom was in Inlaks ICU being treated by a senior cardiologist- I asked him what was a good time to call him for an update on her Echo result he said ring any time -and then seeing the look on my face laughed and said Mujhe patients raat ko ek baje phone karke poochte hain -Doctor saheb mein papad kha loon kya?And I keep a straight face and say Haan haan kyon nahin. When we were driving up to Sewagram for our reunion-both Noel and Parimal were on their phones all the time-managng patients by remote control-very interesting. Of couse with the Blackberry and now the Iphone things are different here too-but one can choose If you are not on call you can be not contactable no problem-dont forget private practice in India is a vicious competitive field-to get a colleague to cover means voh patient chura lega..... Any way the best thing to come out of 3 Idiots is my 6 year old says All izz well-he loved it-I thought the baby scene may be too much for him-on the contrary he was all intrigued about whether that was how he was born-and worried if I was screaming in pain too-and I said no my Epidural was doing its job well and he was happy-makes explaining facts of life easier!!! 82 To: mgims From: shyamkamath@...
