Guest guest
Just wanted to share a bit of good news and see if it rings any bells with you all. I came down with CFS in 2000. Like many of you, 2 of my symptoms were diarrhea and O.I. (orthostatic intolerance-light headedness upon standing). 2002 I went to Mass General in Boston and after extensive testing, etc. I was diagnosed with malabsorbtion. Finally, a diagnosis!! I was told to see a G. I doctor. I went to my local G.I. Doctor with the news and she decided to retest me for malabsorbtion. She said that the tests were negative. I then asked how she would treat me if the test had been positive. She said that then test was negative and never answered the question. In Jan 2009 I had a phone conference with my doctor at the FFC in Philadelphia. When I told him about the diarrhea he suggested that maybe I had a yeast infections in the gut and to try their anti-yeast pills. Never heard of yeast in the gut but, then, what do I know. The day before the conference someone in 1 of my yahoo groups wrote that Oat Straw Tea was great for yeast infection. So off to my Whole Foods and purchased my tea, boiled it for 10 minutes per instructions to release the medicinal properties and then I added a 1/2 teaspoon of manuka honey*. While sitting at the computer. I accidentally drank 16 oz. without thinking. (Why you shouldn't eat and watch TV or work on computer). For the next 5 days I was constipated. I also had more energy and my O.I was 95% gone. I stopped taking my fludrococortisone and haven't taken it in 3 weeks! And my energy is good. I am not cured but this is the biggest improvement in 9 years. While super constipation is not fun I think that by slowing down my digestive process the gut was able to absorb the nutriments from my food. I have no idea why the O.I. Was vastly improved. My research says that O.I. Is a heart problem and I think that my heart is in good condition. I am now trying to figure out how much tea to drink to get the benefit without having a major backup! Seems to be about 2 oz. a day but still fine tuning. Thanks you, whoever suggested Oat Straw tea!!!! That is the latest health update from Boston. Lois *According to folk lore, manuka honey is New Zealand's cure all. Take it internally or topically and it " cures anything " .
