Sissi,

I just read Dillon's story at your web site. He sounds like a remarkable

young man (with a remarkable mom) - I'm praying he can battle through this

one. Are you at a Macon hospital this time? (I am from Warner Robins.)

We're home. Dillon's nephrologist is in Atlanta. He's just started spilling

protein. Doc said not to freak out yet. So I'm trying not to. He also said

the proteinuria was too high to be caused by a virus.

Mylene, thanks for posting this. I'm really stressed out about sending my

girl to kindergarten next year and have seriously considered homeschooling

her myself. I love where she is this year and really like her teachers, but

I have no idea where she will be next year. I would greatly appreciate

someone contacting me in this sort of situation. I think you're doing a

great thing for your son! Good luck and keep trying with those parents!!

Aimee in Atlanta

Well, I am no longer shocked...i am truly disgusted. I

reported the incident to the principle Wed., she

stated she would look into it. I informed the spsecial

ed. board of education director, they stated they

would look into it. I called the school counselor &

told him that all my life i have been told that a

person in an official capacity is bound by law to

report any signs of abuse or endagerment or neglect of

a child, but that this issue was being ignored...he

said he would look into it. I called the welfare

office, then went in & discussed it with a worker, she

stated what a shame it was.

I have not received one return call regarding this

issue. I have decided to officially withdraw my son

from school & homeschool him. I have been in the

medical field for 14 years before i had my blessed

love & like many others ditched my career to take full

care of him. Went from 25.00/hr. to 530/month

disability. I homeschooled my 14 y/o for one year & he

went from F's to testing out on a 10th grade level &

was double-promoted. But i don't have a clue as to

homeschool my little man with autism, mental

retardaation, chronic static encephalopathy & sensory

integration dysfunction. Maybe i can go on the

internet & find ideals?????? I don't feel that i have

an inkling of even where to start, but atleast i can

lose the migraine & get some sleep for the first time

in days.

I need to find this little girls parents though, i

have thought of putting an ad in the paper which will

go like this: If you have a daughter named Kadeesha

that goes to Powder Springs Elementary, please call me

at . I saw an incident at school that you

may want to know about....I will not give up on

finding these parents.

Anyone that homeschool's their child please e-mail me

privately if you can give me some suggestions i would

greatly appreciate it...thanks for bothering to read

this email as it is very lenghty & whiny, but that's

how i feel right now. God bless those children being

abused or mistreated who cannot tell, and their

parents who may not know....

Hello folks!

I am still waivering on whether or not to resume my duties here.

The get away that I have been on for the past couple of days has not

been remotely enough to even BEGIN to take away the stress of the

prior week and I am thinking of taking a few more weeks off to go on

another trip.

In my absence, problems have continued to compound themselves as

folks write in and appeal to me for help regarding the abuse they are

receiving from a certain person who shall remain nameless -and

regarding other issues that shall remain untold. As I do intend to

help them all my time commitment to those individuals is going to be

enormous.

I also still intend to grow this group. It has been made clear to me

that that the group has the potential to offer what regular message

boards do not, and so I shall exploit the capacities of this group as

much as possible, and to our benefit.

Needless to say, I understand clearly now why Edan has pulled up

stakes and moved onward, and I have told him as much in a recent

letter that I sent to him before I headed off on my brief sojourn to

the wilderness.

Speaking of which, I hesitate to say what I have been up to, but it

has been a combination of business and pleasure. My firm had a

company retreat from Sunday through Tuesday at one of the local state

parks.

I left early simply to get away from the flap on AI and get to a

place where I could hear birds flying without airplanes screaming

through every two minutes to drown them out. There were a lot of

cooperative group exercises at the retreat that were designed to

build teamwork and trust, (an Aspie nightmare, in other words) but I

survived.

I ate too much, went against my values and drank a bit, and sat up

late at night watching meteors, or spending time with members of my

firm telling ghost stories in one of our cabins. Late at night, after

lights out, two of those people heard noises in their cabin. (Small

objects being knocked off the dressers and so forth). One of them

turned on the lights in terror - just in time to see a couple of mice

running for their boltholes.

Of note was that yours truly led a group of about fifteen people on a

hike through the park (which I am very familiar with). We went 4.2

miles round trip and topped rocky overlooks and also went down into

deep canyons. One of those on the tour was a recently hired woman

who, coincidentally, is an heiress to a sizable chunk of an insurance

magnate's fortune (and if I mentioned the name of the company that

her relative owned, you would all know it, more likely than not).

Far from being a rich snob (though her net worth had to be in the

tens of millions of dollars) she hiked along with the rest of us -

much of that time by my side [Tom's heart skips a beat as he

remembers this -Boy was she cute! And my age too!] and helped to make

the hike a fun one. I'll see her around the office soon, and I cannot

wait!

:)

I said above that I ate too much. Gluttony is bad, of course, but I

just have to tell you about the chocolate cake I had at the retreat.

There were three thick layers of chocolate cake, with thick chocolate-

mouse and a thick layer of chocolate frosting between each layer of

cake. The cake was topped with chocolate icing, shavings of dark

chocolate, chocolate chips, chocolate cake crumbs, and chocolate

syrup.

I ate a gigantic piece of it that was about the size of both fists

put together and I must say it was THE best chocolate cake I have had

in my life (the only rival being a Sara Lee chocolate cake that had

chocolate chips sprinkled over it).

Inger, I am going to let you hold things together indefinitely if you

don't mind.

I will dip in and out to do a few things on the group, most of which

you all won't notice. When I come back in earnest, I will make an

official announcement of some sort, and then maybe Inger and I can

have a talk about how long she wants to stay on as moderator.

Please be patient as I progress through this time of recovery. In

the meantime, please chat amongst yourselves, get to know each other

better, and provide support for those who need it.

Tom

Take your time in deciding. Change your mind as many times as you like.

Sounds like a good idea.

OK.

Great!

What very good timing as you were in dire need to get away.

Oh gawd! I don't know if i would have. I wouldn't mind building teamwork and

trust with a group of aspies (in fact that's what i spend most of my time

trying to do online) but being forced to do so with a group of NTs - yikes!

LOL!

I had a mouse in my house a cuple of years ago. I was sitting at my desk

working and suddenly the cutest little paws and a tiny little nose appeared

over the desk edge. We both stared at each other in utter surprise for

several seconds before it darted off to hide again. (In my favorite cardigan

I later found out...) I fed it for a couple of days and then I got a

non-harming trap to catch it and put it outdoors. It was soo cute!

Sounds like a dream hike then. ;-)

> And my age too!]

Which is..? (If one may be so nosy as to ask.)

> and helped to make the hike a fun one. I'll see her around the office

Nice to have someting pleasant to look forward to. ;-)

<snip long description of yummy chocholate cake>

I'm very spartan in my habits too, but I don't see what harm it can do to

indulge oneself just once in a while (if one likes that sort of thing).

I don't mind. Take your time.

We will. Hope you get a good rest whatever you do. And that you'll keep us

posted and let us know how you are.
