Relationships

Hi again,

First; thank you Tom for your welcome! I have AS and do need to "be around" you guys! And about love and relationships:

Ruth wrote: "I understand the mysteries of love and sex and relationships but am no longer able to play the game or dance the dance any more. My wings are broken and until they mend I have no desire to try and fly. I wonder if others in here feel that there is no hope for that real love and so they feel the same way about a "relationship". We obviously all want "relationship" of some kind or we would not be here in this group. We all need relationships because it is the way we were created but for some relationships with the environment or animals is almost enough to keep them living and happy but dont we all want at least one person that can and will be there with us?

Yes Ruth, I feel sometimes; “There is no hope for that real love for me”. I wonder if it’s just because we have AS, and are not so good at relationships, this feeling is so obvious for us. We know that the odds are not good for us (ordinary people hardly manage to live together so how could we?). But also… the pain we have knowing how good things could be… if only… LOVE. Real love! Unselfish love…

I say we and I mean us with AS. We do have another mind then “the others”. We dwell on other stuff they do. Most times anyway I think. At least we often prioritize differently. Some place inside I know how real love is meant to be; how it was meant to be for us humans. But few know so how to intercourse like that?

Honestly I say; sometimes I think real love could be having more then one partner. But this is not for my husbands ears ;-) I don’t think even I could manage that after all…
