Subject: [ ] Recovering

For those of you who are discouraged/and or frightened about your LD symptoms, I

have three acquaintances who were totally paralyzed from the neck down (one for

over two years) and are doing great now, completely recovered. Although Im just

beginning my fight with LD, knowing that they recovered has helped me a lot.

7.5 months off the abx, and still holding steady. Also: I've lost 25 of the 60

pounds I gained during my decade in bed!

I'm walking half an hour a day now, and starting to lift weights.

Thanks for this, . I agree, if you do research on the web or read

support group posts it is very disheartening b/c it seems like no one gets

better, or it is a terrible struggle etc. And I don't doubt that is true

for some people. But I think generally, people who are well drop out of

these groups so you don't hear their stories.

It helped me to talk to a friend in our town who had symptoms for years --

all neuro -- like she couldn't remember how to get home from her kids

school. She tried oral antibiotics for three years with relapses, went on

IV rocephin for 7 months (in conjunction w/other antibiotics) and now three

years later she's fine and hasn't had a relapse.

Also, in the midst of all the bad stories I asked my doctor if anyone gets

better on IV antibiotics. He said everybody improves.

Hold on to the stories of getting better!

That's great to hear, Don. I need these stories as much as anyone right now.

My mom is blind from lyme disease and I was wondering if anyone else knew of

anyone who may be blind also. The only treatments she has had is IV ABX and

PO ABX. Can anyone recommend some alternative treatments.

thanks

I'm not personally blind but I know other people at the doctor's I go to who

have had this problem. We're all on combinations of zithromax and rocephrin by

IV and mepron and flagyl/tinamax orally. They've been there longer than I have

(I've been there a couple months now and they've been there close to a year) and

they've said that treatments been the only thing that's helped while stopping

has made the symptoms come back immediately.

I am sorry to hear about your mother.  As far as other treatments, have you

considered going to a nutritionist or herbalist.  I know every case of lyme is

different, with me the oral antibiotics did not work.  I also know that it can

be hit or miss and the doctors are usually trying what has worked for others,

but if you don't see improvement, or are not satisfied w/ you mother's care, go

else where.  Do you go to a Lyme Doctor, I think that makes a huge difference

also, I think they are more inclined to try different approaches where as a

regular physician just does what he is told to clinically do.  I wish you the

best in search to get  your mother well.  I look forward to hear good things.

Be

well. ~DonnaLee

, my lyme doctor told me that his 14 year old daughter lost her site for

several months. She did recover after abx therapy. So sorry for what she and

you are going through. Is she with a lyme speicalist?

We must go to the same LLMD! Or, how coincidental is it that *my* Lyme

doctor's 14 year old daughter lost her sight due to Lyme! By the way, she

made a complete recovery.
