Guest guest
I To: lipodystrophy Good News for those of you with the buffalo hump and Medicare or Medicare related HMO coverage. While California regulations for HMOs allows coverage for liposuction for the buffalo hump removal, HMOs under Medicare used Medicare's guidelines for cosmetic surgery to deny coverage., saying they were governed by federal regulations that do not cover cosmetic surgery. I just won an appeal to a Federal Medicare Judge. This was the last step in a series of appeals over the last year and a half. He overruled all the other decisions of denial, based on my contention that the buffalo hump is not a cosmetic issue, as I testified to my neck pains, interupted sleep and pressure on my spine, as verifed by my specialists.
