Hi Debbie,

I just noted from another of your posts that you're on Oahu. Who do you see for neurofeedback? My kids were working as home trainers using a BrainMaster with someone in California, but I'd like to find someone locally.

Thanks,

Susi

Re: Bio-feedback

Hi Lola,My kids have probably had 100 sessions of eeg biofeedback (also called nuerotherapy). We were pleased with results and ended up buying a home machine (about $1,000) so we could train at home under the guidance of our therapist. You do need to be patient with biofeedback. It will probably take a while for your pracitioner to find the optimal settings. And sometimes things get worse before they get better. Here were our results:My 8 year old son diagnosed ADHD - got him completely off stimulant medication while on biofeedback. Biofeedback helped to calm him down and it significantly improved his handwriting in terms of clarity and fewer letter reversals. My 11 year old son diagnosed with inattentive ADD - biofeedback definitely improved his energy level, which was my greatest concern for he was kind of a couch potato prior to treatment. On biofeedback, he became much more active - which was great! But I we still haven't conquered his focus and organization issues yet.My husband used biofeedback for "peak performance" at work. He has a very stressful job and sometimes has a hard time sleeping through the night. When this happens, I "brain train" him at home and he sleeps like a baby thereafter.I tried biofeedback for migraine. The practioner didn't get the settings right on the first go round and I had trouble remembering anything, much less finding my car in the parking lot! The second session went much better.........but I stopped after 5 sessions because I didn't have time to continue.Bottom line - I really believe that biofeedback works, but you need to find a GOOD practioner and be patient with it. A good book is ADD: The 20 hour solution by Sigfried Othmer. (But honestly, I think ADD probably takes more like 40-70hours)Good luck,Debbie>> Hi group> we are staring bio feedback on the 3rd , and I was just wondering if > anyone had tried it, what was the out come.> for my son we are doing 10 sessions only and see how it goes from > there.> > Lola>
