Would I be able to get SS or SSDI if I haven't worked for over 7 years?

I need advice on how to get started. What is the difference between the two

and what should I know before calling???

This will explain the difference between SSI and SSDI:

If you haven't worked for the past 7 years because of your health, you can

put your disability date back to 2001, or the last date you worked. If you

are awarded benefits, they would pay you back to the date you first came

disabled.

When filing a claim, make sure you put down all of the doctors that you have

seen, have documentation for everything. I kept a note book and when I'd

talk to anyone from SS I'd write their name down, date, and what was said. I

made copies of everything that I sent through the mail and kept it in my

file as well.

I'm sure there are many people on the list that will help you through the

process.
