Guest guest
My daughter is autistic and may have metabolic/digestive/absorption issues in her gut and conversion issues in her liver - I think there doesn't exist an austistic kid that doesn't have a touch or a lot of this. I just joined the group, please excuse my ignorance and sense of haste, but I was considering a therpeutic trial in our daughter and wonder if someone could point me to the best summary of side effects of each Valtrex and Acyclovir and possibly summarize in bullet points if they are not too lengthy, just so I can get oriented in this area without spending hours hunting, downloading, etc.. I'm already up to my waist or neck in chelation reading, nutrition reading, etc. etc.and would appreaciate the help. I would assume in an autistic person where " normal " liver function may we questionable or strained by heavy metal, ammonia and other toxicity, and where gut function is so wierd (severe constipation/ withholding - going up to 7 days between poops for example) that assuming absorption and conversion in the liver at some " normal " rate would be somewhat questionable, so it sounds like Acyclovir would be the safer bet (needs no conversion). (Also my daughter may not have enough glutathione in her liver to convert, if that is what's required to do the conversion). Can someone at least theorize why Binstock's comments in group file on valtrex vs. acyclovir suggests more side effects? Is it it different for autistics - they do better on acyclovir? Perhaps I can figure out the best option in that case based on why/how they are different and what I know about my daughter's biochemistry.
