Guest guest
Hi, my daughter started valtrex on 12/11 then got very ill by 12/15 with a virus that was going around (vomiting, diarreah etc). She couldn't keep anything down so I had to stop giving it to her until she got better. I restarted the valtrex last night. This morning about 30 minutes after she took it she got bumps on her feet that she was itching non-stop - looked like hives. Then her feet got better and it went to her hands. cleared up after about 3 hours. I gave her another dose this evening and now she's having the same problem with her hands again. Very itchy, red and can't stop scratching and licking them. Anyone had this happen to them or is this maybe an allergic reaction? We didn't see any of this when she originally started for the 5 days before she got sick. Any advice would be appreciated. TX Sondra
Guest guest
Hi group My daughter has had these types of rashes for about three weeks. They are very itchy as well. The rash on her hands is the worst. My DAN hasn't seen her but from the phone consultation thought it could be an allergy but it would be hard to call. Stan said it might be yeast, if that helps. I have lowered the dose of valtrex but the itching continues and last night was the worst its ever been. I think I will stop valtrex, we are on day 47 with diflucan and a low sugar diet already in place. Let me know if you see the doc, I can't see mine for another 2 weeks. Thanks Virginia > > Sondra > > My son did get rashes as we increased the dose. He's been off the Valtrex now for awhile so I can't recall if the rashes faded on their own or if we did something to help it along. In the past, I've used Aquaphor and/or Sarna topically and activated charcoal taken far away from other supplements and/or meds. > > Are you washing the blue dye off the pills? Guest guest
When I am allergic I get large hives on my hands and feet. They get red and swollen and it hurts. I think she's allergic to valtrexTed Fogarty wrote: Timing of reaction sounds suspicious enough for allergy to valtrex, would hold off until hearing from DAN doctor. >yes, im washing the dye off the pills so it's not that. It's veryweird, not really a rash but much more like hives appearing randomlyon her body but mostly on her hands and feet. I tried getting aholdof her DAN doc today but of course they're out for the holidays. Doyou think I should stop until I can talk to him?Sondra> Sondra> > My son did get rashes as we increased the dose. Guest guest
Basically, in my opinion... it's a very good sign. If you listen to my presentation from the USAAA Conference in 2006 on www.recoveryvideos.com you'll see the data I collected about mercury excretion. When you mobilize mercury and it is excreted from the body, the places on the skin that it comes out of the most is the hands and feet. If you look at Pink Disease, which was caused by mercury in teething powder in the late 1800's until the early 1930's you'll see these kids having pink peeling skin on their hands and feet, in addition to neurological issues that look similar to autism. If you see a reaction with the hands and feet, my first thought would be mercury excretion and it's probably a good think in the long run. If it was caused by Valtrex and an antifungal together... if that were my child I would carefully push forward (and stay in touch with your DAN! doctor considering you would also likely benefit with some supplementation to raise glutathione levels). - Stan > >yes, im washing the dye off the pills so it's not that. Guest guest
Assuming you are washing off the blue coating... I doubt it is an actual allergy to the therapy. More of a reaction to what you are mobilizing... which is better coming out of the body than staying in if you ask me. Just my opinion. - Stan > >yes, im washing the dye off the pills so it's not that.
