Guest guest
Okay, so I'm going into the medical field and am volunteering at the hospital. I was talking to the ultrasound technologist about Hashimoto's and told him I've had Hashi's for approximately 9 years and have never had an ultrasound or biopsy. I even have to ask my doctor to palpate it because he never does. The ultrasound tech decided to look at my thyroid himself and did an ultrasound. He said it looked bad and that I should take the pictures in to my doc and demand more testing (including a biopsy). He also said that I should have it removed. I asked why if it's just dying out. He said I have a great risk for thyroid cancer and/or thyroid lymphoma. Have any of you heard of this? I knew cancer was a risk no matter what, but I hadn't heard about thyroid lymphoma. So, I'm wondering how many of you have had an ultrasound and/or biopsy? Should this be routine? Stupid Kaiser won't even let me see an Endocrinologist. Anyone that's had a biopsy, does it hurt? I'm really freaked out about a needle going into my neck. Thanks, Miaja**
