Kathy,

Have you done much travelling since your husband has been ill? If not, you will want to take some extra time to prepare. Even while was doing really well otherwise, stress would always take its toll. And, travelling is stressful. Although he still walks without a cane most of the time, we always get a wheelchair at airports. Especially when travelling abroad, it is a great help. They take you through special channels to check passports, so you don't have to stand in the long lines at customs. You get on the plane with (usually, but not always) sufficient time to get settled before the masses start crowding on. It really cuts down on stress.

Bathrooms on planes are a real problem for people with handicaps. A Depend isn't likely to make it all the way across the ocean. I don't really have an answer for this problem. Last time we went to Europe, tried to use the restroom, and I went in after he came out and cleaned up the mess. It was the best we could do. Getting two people into an airplane restroom is very difficult.

Anyway, I hope your husband has a good trip and a wonderful visit with his family!
