Guest guest
Hello. He has been attending The Parish School for the past two years, started just before his second birthday. And we have had a home ABA program going simultaneously. Guest guest
The Parish School is in Houston, Texas, approximately at the corner of Kirkwood and I-10. They are a school for children with language learning differences. They are not a PDD school, like Westview School in Houston. They will only accept a child without behavior issues or stims. They do not do ABA...we did that privately in the afternoons and weekends, but they are a good language preschool, though quite costly and not covered by insurance. davbritt@... wrote: > Where is this school? > > Layle > > Jaggers wrote: > > > Hello. > > > > He has been attending The Parish School for the past two years, started just > > before his second birthday. [input] [input] .com --------------------------------- In terms of treatment for children with PDD or Autism, it usually refers fo an intensive !:! training regimen (typically 20-40 hrs a week) that is developed, implemented, monitored and constantly evaluated and updated for the individual child using the principles and techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). (Lovaas' Discrete Trial Training is one form of this intensive mode of treatment.) Research suggests that the greatest likely benefit can be expected when it is begun in early childhood (preferably by age 3) and continued for a few years. This is probably (partly) because that with some children it helps them to develop the abilities necessary to come under the natural social reinforcement of their peers and the natural environment at an early enough age that they can begin to develop pretty normally. This is not to say that older children could not benefit, but the effects would not generally be as dramatic..Applied Behavior Analysis is actually a field of study which emphasizes empirical methods in the study and treatment of behavior and which utilizes principles and techniques supported by basic and applied research. B.F. Skinner is considered the founder of this field of study. ---------------------------------
