Hello all,

Here is the scenario:

The physician's office who performs the stent removal post transplant

(kidney) is asking the patient for payment " up front " for the Medicare

deductible.

The patient has Medicare primary/Medicaid 2ndry. My understanding is that

once Medicare pays, they need to bill Medicaid, who should pick up the

deductible and 20% copay. The patient is being refused treatment unless

payment is made in advance... Is this legal?

Thanks in advance.
