This patient's Tricare coverage REQUIRES her to enroll in both A & B

Medicare, otherwise, there will be no Tricare benefits. Because she is not

disabled, she really shouldn't qualify for Medicare (and she does not want

Medicare). Her problem is getting SSA to discontinue her Medicare

eligibility so that her Tricare will then pay as the sole insuror.

Hi everyone,

I have a patient whose kidney transplant took place in 1997. She is a

retired military spouse. Here's her problem: SSA did not terminate her

Medicare part A three years post transplant. She ended the part B

coverage(by not payin the premium) but cannot get SSA to terminate Part A

.. Of course, Tricare is denying payment because they say she has other

coverage. She has made multiple contacts with SSA, DEERS....even her

congressman. No help. So, she called me!!!

Can anyone provide some ideas to resolve her situation?

By the way, am looking forward to the conference next month! : )

Is this a Renal patient? If she is a renal patient she must apply for Medicare A & B and if she should ever want disability she must apply for Medicare A & B. That is a federal guideline that she must abide by. Bev>>> Regina.Sullivan@... 1/20/2005 1:30:32 PM >>>
