Guest guest
Hello out there, group -- has been so quiet in here, I feel like I've abandoned you! How's everyone doing? I saw a new thyroid doc yesterday -- have finally made the leap over to the 'alternative' side, although he is still an MD. So we'll see. I go for some tests tomorrow, which include all the thyroid stuff, plus cholesterol, metabolic, Vitamin D. (Do you know I've never had my cholesterol tested since I've been hypo?) He is talking about starting me on DHEA, as he suspects weakened adrenals I think mainly due to my chronically low blood pressure. Has anyone here taken it? Thoughts? Did a little research on it and found this interesting quote: " The data strongly suggest that hypothyroidism develops in part due to declining levels of DHEA, and there is good evidence that people with optimal levels of DHEA are at decreased risk for thyroid disease.27-29 Moreover, hypothyroidism is often caused by an autoimmune reaction, and high levels of antithyroid antibodies have been correlated with low levels of DHEA.
