Guest guest Posted July 22, 2001 Report Share Posted July 22, 2001 Bagels 2 cups sponge 2 eggs, beaten 2 Tbs oil 1/2 cup milk 2 Tbs sucanat or honey 1 tsp salt 3 cups flour 2 Tbs sucanat or honey Mix sponge, eggs, oil, milk, sucanat, ans salt. Add flour and knead for 5 min. Divide into 15 equal balls. Roll each ball into a 6 inch rope and pinch ends together, forming a doughnut shape. Proof, covered. Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil and add 2 Tbs sucanat. Drop the bagels, 2 at a time, into the water. Remove them after they rise to the surface., drain on paper towels, and place on a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 375* Bake for 25-30 minutes.
