Guest guest
Hi , My son has been doing CLES baths nightly since 11/13/06. It should probably be noted that he is not on the spectrum but has pretty severe PANDAS. I started the baths because I wanted to add an antiviral adjunct while waiting for an appt with a DAN! My son is 12, weighs 85lbs. I use 2 cups of epsom salts, 3000mg of buffered vit c (crushed) and 1000mg of L-Lysine (empty the capsule right into the tub). If we're not pressed for time, I'll rub his legs through his pajamas before he gets in as I've read that doing this assists in absorbtion. He stays in for at least 20 mins but I can't seem to get him to stay in for more than 30. I read that loose bm's are a sign that there is too much epsom salt in the water. We've had no problem yet. It's been a wonderful, low cost addition to our arsenal. I suspect it may actually be doing some good as his horrific acid reflux is markedly better and that is always a good gauge of his anxiety levels (which is the outward sign of his PANDAS condition). Best wishes to you, Gayle Kassen wrote: Hi!I'm new to the group and am looking for guidedance on the CLES baths. My son is 6 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. Can anyone tell me howmuch of each ingredient I should put in the bath. How long do youkeep your children in the bath? Is it ok to let him sit in there withhis younger brother (he's NT, 4 years old, about 45 lbs.) Any insight into this would be extremely helpful! thanks so much. K. Check out the all-new Yahoo! Guest guest
To add to this, my son is 8 and 74 lbs. I use 3000 mg to 4000 mg of vitamin C crystals from Trader Joes 3 - 4 tbsp of Baking soda since my Vitamin C is not buffered 1000 mg of Lysine 1/4 cup Epsom salts (I use less because my son has a problem with sulphur donors, gets red ears even on this amount) Gayatri > Hi! > I'm new to the group and am looking for guidedance on the CLES baths. > My son is 6 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. Guest guest
Hi : Vitamin C is very much a part of the CLES bath routine. See if a search brings up the information Natasa reposted a few days ago. It explains the rationale for it. The test for Vitamin C tolerance is usually bowel tolerance. You may begin with 1 gm a day and work up slowly gram by gram to see how he does in terms of BMs. Gayatri > > > Hi! > > > I'm new to the group and am looking for guidedance on the CLES > > baths. > > > My son is 6 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. Guest guest
Hi Mina No, these are not clay. I am sorry I don't know about the magnet clay baths, CK2 (chelatingkids2) would be a good list to ask that question. Gayatri
Guest guest
Hi I rethought that - if you think that your son's dose is high enough and don't want to rock the boat, don't. I don't know if the people who came up with the CLES bath were able to take it orally or not, maybe orally was a problem. Some kid's skins are sensitive and may not do well with the vitamin C in the water. I think there shouldn't be any hard and fast rules. As it is we are constantly tweaking things around as is apparent from my post below . Or try it out with a low dose in water and see what happens, you will always be the best judge of your own child's reactions. Guest guest
I agree with Gayatri, except that the original reason for putting C in the bath (as opposed to orally) was to I guess to bypass possible gastro/absorption problems that are possible with high oral doses of C. another reason is that by absorbing it transdermally the idea is that its more 'durable' - apparently with the oral one you should be giving small doses every couple of hours to get the full benefit. you need baking soda with the C if the C is not buffered. If it is buffered (it should say so on the box) it should cause no problems for the skin or the bath tub. having said that I add baking soda regardless, as I read somewhere that our kids are in need of it anyway... Guest guest
Hello Group I'm wondering if the CLES bath would irritate an already rashy body or could it be soothing. My daughter still has itchy rashes on her legs and arms (2-3wks), it is also moving to her abdomen and back. I hope this is the Valtrex still working on the viruses. Anyhow, does anyone have experiance with the baths while on valtrex? Thank you all for your time.
