Guest guest
Carol, Next time you're at the store, see if they have the rice cheese in block form. I know they have it at mine, I've just been buying the shredded for convenience. I'm curious if you like it. Z
Guest guest
I've tried soy cheese, and while I didn't mind it melted on my veggie burger, I did have issues just eating a slice. It's the texture, it didn't make it right. But I'll look and I'm willing to give it a try, what the heck... it won't kill me right? right??!! > > Carol, > > Next time you're at the store, see if they have the rice cheese in block form. No, Sin, you didn't tell me how the heck do you find all these courses and that take so little time. I think in the US this stuff would take years to do and even longer to get a job with. I'm moving to Canada and joining the military! HAHAHA sorry folks had to say it. Reg > Carol, > > Next time you're at the store, see if they have the rice cheese in block form. Guest guest
Not really a great sub for full on cheese cravings, but if you want a cheesy comfort food, I like "Mac and Chreese" (the names a little "cheesy", ha ha; made in VT...I don't remember the company offhand...2 servings come in a little recycled cardboard box). Wild Oats carries it, and I think I've gotten it at some of our smaller health food stores (all the way out here in Utah!) I think the ingredients are organic, too. It's definitely way processed, but I love it with some not-dogs or tofu-pups, stewed tomatoes (and/or green beans). To make it a little more healthy, I like to have it on a bed of mixed greens (and fresh tomatoes are better, too).Oh, the cheesiness is nutritional yeast. That brings me to a question. Do you guys know if all nutritional yeast is a good source of B12, or only Red Star? A lot of places specifically name Red Star brand, and make it sound like that is the only one. This summer a bought a big bulk bag of an unnamed brand (and the nutritional values aren't listed on the side. Again, I don't know if this is microbiotic or not...if not, what are some other good B12 sources (I know enriched soy/rice milks, etc., but any more "natural" ways to get B12?)Night night :)From: To: VeganMacrobiotics Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2005 23:30:11 -0500Subject: Re: Carol and cheeseI couldn't stand soy cheese either. I really want to start a business for mom and their kids (infant and up) to work out, get a healthy education, and learn about vegetarianism/macrobiotics, etc! We'll see what happens! Sure move up here! I'd be sooooo damn happy! As for the military, lol, I could always talk to Craig about that for you. Guest guest
I've never used nutritional yeast. I went to the health food store yesterday to buy it, and I'm not sure if I was looking at the right stuff. It looks like sawdust! Is that the stuff? I expected a powder. Needless to say I didn't buy it. "...become the change you envision" Hinds ----Original Message Follows---- Reply-To: VeganMacrobiotics To: VeganMacrobiotics Subject: Re: Carol and cheese Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2005 01:26:49 -0000 , I like that chreese stuff only after I doctor it up and put much more nutritional yeast otherwise it tastes nasty to me. I sometimes make my own "cheese" sauce with rice dream, margarine and nutr. yeast. Not bad over pasta. You can get some stuff like that at www.veganessentials.com I use tofu pups they are the only ones that don't put in sugar. supposedly the best source of b12 is miso and seaweed tho some will say that it doesn't get metabolized properly which I think is crap. But I'm no guru what do I know? Macro says it's not true so I guess that's why. You're right don't go for the enriched crap, it's crap. Guest guest
order some nutritional yeast online from that natural lifestyle place I had a catalog sent to you from a million years ago or just grind that down. The flakes are fine and taste just as good.
