OT - Tsunami and Other Suffering

I certainly do not mean to diminish the suffering in Asia related to the

recent earthquake and tsunamis, but as a new year begins, let us not

forget those in our own countries who are poor, homeless and suffering.

I am all for international aid, etc., but feel that sometimes our

government (I am in the US), overlooks our citizens who are sleeping on

the street, in cardboard boxes, trying to keep warm, and who have to

rely on soup kitchens to fill their own stomachs and those of their

innocent children, who did not ask to be born into this kind of life.

, GULP b/c you are so right. I think it's great that we are

helping those less fortunate but why aren't we helping the

empoverished in our own country??????????? I guess that's why we

need to take a more active approach in government, vote locally and

stuff like that.

What I don't understand is why we give aid in the billions and

everyone hates us. It's really sad.

Ok, off to the dog park Rufus needs it.
