Guest guest
A copy of the message I posted to their discussion board: /Dan, Promoting your site is one thing, but this is not the way to do it. You say: Quote: Was the creation of this site the reason that Aspergia closed? I think it would be silly to close aspergia based on the creation of the site, so the proximity in time of the founding of wrongplanet and the closing aspergia are probably a coincidence. By saying so you are making an implicit suggestion that this may be the case, i.e. that Aspergia discussions closed because your site is so good. I think a bit of modesty is in order here, and if you read the posts about Aspergia's closure you would know that it is certainly not the case. You say: Quote: People have expressed the view that Aspergia was dying, anyway, and there must have been a reason that it had begun to do so. I, personally, would like wrongplanet to live forever. I have always been interested in immortality, and how people's legacies live on through things that they implemented, but i'm getting a little off point. We need to try to find out what went wrong with aspergia, and try to make sure WrongPlanet stays positive and flourishes .. I think you can promote your site without throwing mud at others. You and your site are at an early stage. I certainly hope it grows, and becomes very popular, but it is a bit early to say that it is the best, and a very early to say that it is immortal. Finally - the Aspergia community is now looking at the best places to continue the debate. It's up to you if you want to welcome them here, and a little bit of goodwill will go a long way. I wish you all the best with your site, Edan www.aspergia.com
Guest guest
Phew! A fine example of the arrogance of youth. No wonder you took exception, Edan. > A copy of the message I posted to their discussion board: > > /Dan, > > Promoting your site is one thing, but this is not the way to do it. > > You say: > Quote: > Was the creation of this site the reason that Aspergia closed? Guest guest
I just wanted to clarify my position on my feelings about Aspergia.com and WrongPlanet.net. 1) My topic for disussion, CAN ANYONE OFFER OPINIONS AS TO WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE OLD BOARD? should not in any way be taken to mean that I thought the board or Aspergia.com was bad. Nor should it be taken to mean that I thought Aspergia.com was bad. Nor should it be taken to mean that i thought Edan was bad. It was meant for us to brainstorm on some of the issues that seemed to develop just before the closure and it was hoped that possibly ideas could blossom which could be used to enhance the development of message boards in the future. 2) Let it be known that the administrator of FAM - Secret Society is 100% behind Edan and his outstanding effort to bring us all together. My loyalty to his efforts was and is unswerving. He gave and still gives us much to be thankful for. 3) Let it also be known that I am also 100% in favor of any effort to build a new community for Aspergians. I have a very strong sense of the effort involved being very busy myself with the development of this one. Therefore, the creators of WrongPlanet have my sincere compliments and recognition and my best hopes for them to create their vision and version of an Aspergian website. 4) But I do agree that throwing mud at Edan is definately NOT a good cornerstone to build the foundation on. If we are all to move forward, then yes, we need to put the old message board behind us, but let's memorialize it like it deserves, not tip the headstone over and dance upon its grave. Can anyone so easily forget what Edan has done for us? I surely can't. Lastly THIS board promotes free speech and will continue to allow postings defending either view as long as either side continues to give them. I am also letting this continue so that FAM - Secret Society members may better decide for themselves where they would like to settle should they decide to move on from here. I really don't think anyone could have possibly interpreted your suggestion in any other way. You have been utterly respectful to Edan in every message i have seen from you. Which in turn earns my respect. I too have nothing but admiration for the great work Edan has done for our kind, and understanding for his decision. > Lastly THIS board promotes free speech and will continue to allow postings defending either view as long as either side continues to give them. And thanks again for the swift initiative in supplying this raft. Inger
