We saw gains within weeks of starting Valtrex. We've been doing DMSA for several months and can't attribute much to it. We're on a break now until we get our porphyrin tests back.

We are on round 2 of chelation with DMSA, and I have been pouring through all of Stan's websites and videos and articles and am convinced that my son needs Valtrex plus diflucan. I've always suspected a viral issue even though HSV titers came back negative. His autism and gut problems started at 14 months directly in correlation with receiveing the MMR plus Influenza in the same day. I also suspect he was exposed to roseola at that time as well because of a playmates infection. I am a strong beleiver in Chelation but am wondering if I'm making a mistake by starting DMSA before trying Valtrex. My son is 2yo ASD Diagnosed at 23 months. Has been GFCFSF for 74 days and SCD for 35 days. The gains from diet and supplements have been wonderful in terms of eye contact and connecting with us, but he is still non verbal. Probiotics at 3x the reccommemded dose plus grapfruit seed extract has given him regular solid stools. He also takes no-fenol and peptizyde enzyme plus OLE which he has been taking once capsule for the last 30 days. With the OLE we have seen several random rashes appearing and dissapearing all over the body including measel or chicken pox type bumps 2 or three on the chest. All rashes would come and then dissappear in an hour. Or flare up duing a hot bath. So I was planning on continueing OLE and upping the dose now that 30 days is up and we are seeing no more rashes but I would rather switch to Valtrex since the success seems to be so well documented. Sorry to be so long winded. Any comments or suggestions reguarding Valtrex in combination with DMSA pro or con would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

,I think these are complimentary treatments.  We are chelating currently with oral DMPS and oral CA EDTA and just started taking DIflucan & Valtrex (36 days).  We have seen some gnarly rashes - posted on Stan's site under Bryce's rash.  We also have seen gains in affection/awareness.  I am hoping for more so we'll definitely continue with both chelation & Valtex therapy.NoraOn Oct 13, 2006, at 12:56 PM, sarah wrote We are on round 2 of chelation with DMSA, and I have been pouring through all of Stan's websites and videos and articles and am convinced that my son needs Valtrex plus diflucan. I just got back from visiting my DAN! and he is not interested in

Valtrex, for my son at this age, 23mos, because of the stress on the

liver, and because of his negative HSV Tests. When I brought up the

subject of the many parents trying it on their children even though

they had negative Titers he was not really interested. So now what?? I

guess I just go on with the DMSA? Anyone know of a good DAN! in

sacramento area that is down with the Valtrex treatments?

Hi ! I am in the same boat that you are! We've been doing suppository chelation for three months. We have had viral titers come back negative as well. I (mommy of Sam) have the herpes virus and have always suspected he has viral issues. Anyway, our problems also started with the MMR at 13 months and evolved into severe autism behaviors. We have corrected his very runny poops with Dr. Krigsman. He was on Prednisone for several weeks and is still on Pentasa. He is doing well, but still lots of stimming and no speech. We are also interested in Valtrex. Anyway, you're not alone . . . . S. Matson

Hi and others from Sue,

I live in Roseville, near Sacramento, and my DAN doctor is in Granite Bay.

His name is Terrence Chang, MD,Inc., at 791-0797. My husband and I went to him for MB12Nasal spray just once in July... VERY nice.. He was listed in the google DAN doctor list... I called him up before going to ask if he prescribed MB12 nasal spray, sent him the QEEG report, and he agreed to write a prescription for each of us. I still have one more refill so no need to see him until it runs out.

He mentioned that he attended a Dan conference I think 2 years ago... was excited about it ... but I don't know how he feels about other treatments... I would suggest calling his office and ask him specifically what you want for your child... and I would think you would get an answer indicating he would treat your child or no...

Hope that helps,

Sue

Thank you sue, Dr. Chaeng is also my Guy. I to think he is grand, and

he was right on board for chelating my son using DMSA as i had hoped

but not so with the Valtrex. I feel he is very knowledgable, and

probably I will take his advice to skip the valtrex for now, and maybe

approach the subject again after a few more rounds of chelation. I'm

not sure.

Regarding the viral tests - there is a non-replicating phase the virus' go through - therefore they won't show up on the test.  These tests are not always going to tell you the full story - go with our gut feeling - IMO.Nora Hi ! I do want to go with my gut, but my DAN! doctor won't prescribe the

Valtrex. He came highly reccommemended in my area, and I could not get

in contact with the other two local DAN! doctors. My next question is,

should I go and get a prescription for Valtrex for myself, and treat my

son under the radar of my skeptical doctors or would this be too

dangerous?

???

I don't know about being dangerous, but I would want a Dr. to fall back on.  If your Dr. isn't working well for you - not listening to your input - I'd move on pronto!Good luck - hope someone else chimes in here to help you.NoraI do want to go with my gut, but my DAN! doctor won't prescribe the Valtrex.
