The follow was part of a thyroid journal article in a magazine in my doctor's office:

Medications Affecting Thyroid Function:

Drugs Thyroid Effect

Amiodarone, lithium, iodine Cause of hyper or hypo

interferon, interleukins thyroidism

Dopamine, dobutamine,

corticosteroids, phenytoin, Supressed TSH

octreotide

Corticosteroids, iodine, amiodarone,

propylthiouracil, propanolol Decrease T4 to T3 conversion

Rifampin, phenytoin, phenobarbital,

carbamazepine Increase T4 clearance

Salicylates, furosemide, herparin Decrease binding of T4 to TBG

(Thyrozine binding globulin)

Cholestyramine, sucralfate,

iron sulfate, aluminum hydroxide, Decrease T4 absorption

H2 antagonists, calcium supplements
