Guest guest
I recently came across this post regarding the issue of Alteer's database structure. Hope it is helpful to anyone using the program... I'll shed a bit of light onto the situation. I've said before, I support a number of groups with Alteer, and they are all going through this process. In the standard Alteer contract (Which I was not working for any of these groups unfortunately when these contracts were created), it says that Alteer will provide the practice with a copy of their data, but the practice has to pay for the work associated with this. Getting a copy of the Alteer SQL Database is not the hard part. The problem is, that the database only holds the things a database SHOULD hold, data. Demographics, billing information, medication lists, etc. It does NOT have INSIDE the database, ANY chart documents or scanned in documents. So encounter notes, anything scanned or faxed in, etc is simply linked to from the database (This is fairly standard). Here comes the pain. Alteer has made it clear that those documents cannot be viewed by anything but their software. Now they are coming up with a " fix " for this situation. The " fix " is that they are/have created an Alteer Viewer program that would allow someone who does not have Alteer (Past user) to VIEW their chart documents from Alteer. The Cost? A one time " setup fee " of $5000. Not only that, but its only a viewer. You cannot (in either this, or the full version of Alteer) export documents. So there is no real mechanism (Aside from a ghetto system that I have ready in case we need to use it) to extract those documents from Alteer. Unreal. Things continue to go from bad to worse, and the pain doesnt appear to be stopping anytime soon. If anyone wants to see the PDF they have of their beautiful document viewer, email me and I'll gladly send you a copy. Nick F.
