Guest guest
Tell us why positive thinking is important to you? I often get bogged down in negative thinking, and I truly believe that positive, rational thinking truly changes your outlook and disposition. Email Name (for group members to know) - Judge Email Address (you will use for group members to see) - same 2) Are you currently under stress & needing tools for handling the stress better? Please explain. Yes I am. I am a lawyer, and I don't handle stress well (I wonder why on earth I chose this profession, if I hate stress, but that's another story). I tend to internalize stress, and don't take mistakes or criticism lightly or well. 3) What type of group are you looking for, & what do you expect to get out of this group? A group of people who are under REAL stress (as opposed to what I call imagined stress), so we can share how we handle it, experiences, etc. I am not interested in a group where people talk about how stressed out that the dry cleaners messed up their favorite suit, and they are stressed out about confronting them about it, or stressed out because some guy cut them off in traffic, etc. (there are a lot of groups out there where people talk about these type problems). I want to develop tools to handle real stress, and to develop perspective about stress. 4) What resources, knowledge, or experience do you feel that you can contribute back to this group? I have significant experience-I have had a number of stressful items going on at work right now. I also am pretty good at heling analyze a situation to see whether there is a problem or not. 5) IF INTERESTED, tell us the month & day of your birthday, so we can add you to our birthday card list & Calendar. Guest guest
Hello Pam and welcome to Affirmations! Actually I need to correct the sentence you wrote. Not for grammar content, but in a way it is for grammar content. Let me explain. Doing affirmations (thinking, thoughts, things we say and do) -- need to be how we want them to be. Not as they currently are now. In other words, in your sentence, " Hopefully we can learn how to deal with stress MORE. " You can re-write it to say - " Hopefully we can learn how to deal with stress BETTER or DIFFERENTLY. " Think about it Pam. Do you want MORE stress in your life? No I don't think so. Do you want worse stress in your life. No, that isn't it either. What you want are to find ways to cope with stress better or differently than you currently are now. I know it may sound like I'm being very picky or picking on you specifically. I do NOT mean to!! But, we ALL have to learn to be careful what we think, say, or do. Because those are the things we become, or what the outcome will be. Maybe I'm not explaining it too well, but I assure you I totally mean it in love. NEWBIES: Oh, and for you newbies out there -- when I put things in caps or capital letters on the affirmations group, it is because I am trying to emphasize the word, it isn't that I'm screaming. I don't have the capability to send emails with italics or bolded to this group, and therefore found the only way to emphasize a word or sentence, was to capitalize it. Please, know I don't mean any disrespect or unkindness through this. Pam, girl, all I can say is that I know what you are going through -- because I've been there. In fact, many people on this group have been there, too. You'd be amazed at how much our stories criss-cross and weave through the same type storylines. So, make yourself comfy and soak up all the love, support, and good messages you can here! Also, please go back and read the old messages on the affirmations website -- it is to the left of the email you are looking at. Click on messages, and then you can scroll through topics, or start back at message one when the group began (back in Sept.). You can read as much or as little of these old messages as you like. But, I'm telling you that there is " real gold " in them there hills -- meaning the messages!! Just be silly and trying to add a little humor. Oh by the way, I'm the group owner and one of the moderators here. There is also Shari, Nola, and Susie. Many others also do their share of moderating to help out. We're glad you are here.
