Valtrex Reaction - Help Stan or Anyone

My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August. He had

some fever and flu like symptoms early on. His improvements have

been primarily in mood. Recently we increased his dose, initially

to 1000mg/day (250,250,500). He got a rash on his rear (which

thrilled us). After 2 days on this dose he had a HUGE

meltdown/tempertantrum that lasted several hour. It was scary. We

decided to lower the dose a bit (250, 250, 350). He has had atleast

4 more of these major fits. Today we decided to move him back to

250mgx3.

What do you think is causing this reaction? Is it part of the

healing regression. Is there any way to increase his dose without

this scary side effect?
