Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am new to the group and new to the knowledge of Weston Price. I just found out about his findings when reading through an article that was on an alternative medicine website. I am full of questions, hope and excitement. I am living in Southern California, and I hope there is someone on the list from this area. What struck me most with Price is that he is a dentist. I have been having problems with my teeth all of my life and now my two children, 4 and five are having lots of problems too. This is despite the fact that they are not allowed to eat candy, they brush twice a day etc. They have never had any milk, except for starting four days ago I began to purchase Raw Milk from our local store. Before this they were drinking calcium enriched Rice Dream. We were eating very little meat and following what I thought was a good diet. All whole grains, salads fruit, fish, beans, brown rice etc. Little fat and Canola oil. I thought I was doing good, but could not understand why my kids were constantly catching colds, my youngest had pneumonia once. And every dentist visit left me in anguish. We all had cavities every time. I have so much metal in my mouth that it is simply unbelievable. I feel that I am blessed to have found the studies of Price, and maybe I can save my son's teeth and build them up to better health. As far as my teeth they are probably hopeless. I am only 30 but will have dentures by the time I am 40, or sooner. I have a few die hard followers of Jethro Kloss in my family. Does anyone know how Price viewed his teachings? I have ordered Price's and Fallon's books and I look for to reading the books. I have read the majority of the info on the website, and have been sharing it with my family. I am looking forward to reading your responses and getting more familiar with the teachings of Price, Fallon, Engin and the others. Hope to hear suggestions, advice, and introductions from you all soon. Thank you very much, Kareemah
Guest guest
Hi, welcome. I think that with weston a price org. starting on line in 1999 maybe the reality of these concepts have a greater chance of becoming known. I tripped across his website the first of November, and have subsequently gorged myself on all the subjects he addresses. It's so incredible, and heartbreaking, to see what I've missed, and so does the rest of the world in my opinion. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Im pretty new to the group too. Ive found some postings very helpful. I am 30 yrs. old. Diagnosed with RA at 17. All joints with exception of my spine are involved and I am awaiting knee replacement surgery. I have certainly felt like no one (as helpful as family may try to be) understands the impact of daily pain. I am a mother of two now. To tell you the truth, I dont have time to dwell on pain. I just tend to get grumpy and short tempered. Not good qualities I know! I have had several different adult rheumys. The differences between peds and adults is extreme! If I am not getting the kind of control I need, I have found that I list out the things I cant do and the things I expect to do. I ask my doc, how are we going to make these things happen. Sometimes I think they just get used to older osteo pts and arent as pro active with RA pts (who tend to be younger and therefore more active). If you dont get the action you need.....find a new doc! I have also discovered that bringing 2 VERY ACTIVE children into the MD office with me gets the job done too! If you need to talk, please feel free to email me privately. wwoodse@... Sincerely,
Guest guest
Hi Everyone I'm a couple months new to the group. Was diagnosed w/RA in 1992 when I was 32 while living in KY. Didn't know what was wrong with me as I couldn't get out of bed to go to work or take care of my son. Took many hot bathes and OTC meds to help the pain to go away. Finally went to my family dr who ran tests and narrowed it down to a collegen disease or RA. RA won out...so they started me on cortisone shots and the pain was much less...but as you know, you can't live by cortisone alone...So I saw an RA dr who put me on Plaquenil but it didn't work very well for me. Moved back to Orlando and saw another RA dr who prescribed MTX. I've had very good results with MTX. So now I take MTX, prednisone, folic acid and naproxen. Seems to be under control as the pain is minimal. I've had arthroscopic surgery in the shoulder, 2 carpal tunnel release surgeries where the surgeon went in to scrape out arthritis and bone spurs. Also have had injections in the ankle, wrist, knee and fingers. I try to go to the gym 3-4 times a week to make the joints move. So many times people would tell me to go walk or exercise, but when you are in pain you don't want to do crap. So I always said, you try it the way I feel now! I think that now I have gotten on a routine, it's helping me and my bones are getting stronger. Still have nagging pain in one place or another. Everyone has their own way of handling the disease...and some are more severe than others. To be totally pain free would be something that I can't imagine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maggie AIM maggies85 : shouseme MSN: maggies1429

Guest guest
Since we're all giving out names... I'm ChaosPearl on AOL and instant messenger. I have no job and no school and no life, so I'm hanging out online a LOT if anyone wants to say hello or just bitch about how life sucks and arthritis sucks and doctors suck and you're thinking of leaving your family to escape to Tahiti for a month. I'm going to start compiling a list of everybody's IM and chat names for reference. I'll upload it to our files section. If anyone doesn't want to be there, please let me know, but I'd assume that if you've posted your chat name in email to the group you don't mind the group seeing it. Guest guest
That sounds like a good idea to me, Jenni. I’m platoconversations on IM yellow Improve it. Agitate. Promote freedom and justice. Educate and empower. Use your resources to reach those who have not been where you have been, nor seen what you have seen. In doing this we build a stronger nation. -----Original Message----- From: Jenni [mailto:chaospearl@...] Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 5:10 PM To: Rheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Re: re: I'm new here.
