Guest guest
Dear Liz, I got my period yesterday. Next month I'll be 57. This is getting old. But I must say that I don't experience any EN-hormonal connection. We have a poll question addressing hormones: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/surveys?id=1109557 Of 37 responses about half felt EN was hormonal related. I am assuming only women responded to the poll ;-) Does your EN subside as soon as your period is over? Love,
Guest guest
Hi Liz & - My EN is caused by birth control pills (that I have to be on for other medical reasons), but my monthly cycle does not seem to have any effect one way or the other. Just heat & exercise flare mine up. If I am off the pill, no EN, but then I end up with many other issues, usually requiring surgery. Hugs, Pam D. Guest guest
Sometimes I think it was the pill that caused my EN, but I was only on it for two months . . . all the docs think that wasn't long enough to cause problems. AND, if it was the pill, I wouldn't still have new lumps popping up now, right? Went off the pill 8 months ago; these things should be long gone! Exercise brings on more lumps for me and that really depresses me as I can't work out to get rid of the prednisone damage! It's time for me to call the doc and let him know that I'm " Lumpy Lady " again, as his office used to call me =) I know he can't do anything for me, but at least I should inform him, right? I'm hoping he'll bypass himself and get me into UCONN ASAP . . . guess we'll have to wait and see! Thanks all! Have a great day! Guest guest
Hello, 57 and still getting your period? Oh my sincerest apologies. My inflammation seems to start to get worse around ovulation, it evens out, then peaks at PMS - the day before my period starts is awful and the first day is better but still bad. The second day I have cramps so bad, I don't notice my inflammation! (and this month, I had vomiting.) By the third day, the inflammation has really quieted down. Today, day 4, I feel preety good, even though the weather is bad. We also just had a run of hazy, hot and humid, which makes me feel bad, too. Being in the water really helps. The coolness and water pressure make it a little easier to take. I'm going for another round of acupuncture today as well. I should be tip top tomorrow! Ha ha ha. Guest guest
Dear Liz, My periods have never been a problem for me. I don't get PMS or cramps. I hope the accupuncture gives you some relief. Have you ever tried drinking mint tea? It helps with nausea and upset stomach. I can't imagine going through what you described month after month.
