Hello, I have a question for the counselors on the eastcoast. Does your

medicaid program cover SPK transplants or PAK transplants. We received a

call from a patient who stated that she resides in upstate NY. And that

Medicaid in her state did not cover pancreas/kidney transplant. She is not

eligible for Medicare. Here at UC San Francisco it is covered through our

version of Medicaid called Medi-cal. After informing her that this is a

benifit for residents of this state and we were not contracted without of

state Medicaid.

She spoke of relocating and then returning to New York State for post Tx Rx

coverage from NY medicade. Naturally this was not encouraged. I told her

she should check other programs near her and that I would try to see if I

could find out if SPK/PAK was covered anywhere on the east coast?

Thank you
