Guest guest
LOL. I know how you feel. wants to hover & I just want to be left alone. I don't mind the family coming to visit for an hour or so in the evenings, but the rest of the day I would just as soon be left to my own devices. Results were presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Annual Meeting held in Washington, D.C., March 13-17, 2009."These studies are the first to evaluate and suggest an effect of SYMBICORT pMDI on mid-expiratory flow rates, one potential measure of small airway function, and therefore more studies are needed to further examine the drug's impact," said lead investigator Dr. Pearlman, Colorado Allergy and Asthma Centers. http://www.newswise ..com/articles/ view/550066/Alana

Guest guest
I'm sure happy. The Symbicort took the place of two other inhalers and breathing treatments. My allergist told me not to take the breathing treatments unless I was having an attach. I keep hearing more and more good news about Symbicort. I sure needed something and Symbicort seems to be the answer for me and I'm glad it's helping you.too. > >> > I know that it has worked wonders for me. Guest guest
Cheryl, and if that does not work call or email the Company. I know one woman on the Forteo shots and could not afford the shots. She got the paper work from dr. office and applied to the Co. They are paying for a full year of the shots. I called this Company when I was taking those shots and they asked me if I needed help paying for the meds. I did not because My Insurance payed good. I know of others that have gotten help. Where there's a Will there is a Way! Talk to the Doctor and any one else in dr office and they can tell you what to do. The Doctor may have to sign for you. Just don't be bashful for asking. Guest guest
That's interesting Mike, I sing first soprano and I lost my top notes, and I was a "warbly" for a month after, it's back now but if the Pulmicort does the same I will ask for an another alternative. I must research on the web and see what Duoneb is called in the UK, why they can't have the same names I will never know. Guest guest
Iolan, Jenn can tell you the translations, but Duoneb is a mixture of albuterol and iptatroprium bromide solution for use in a nebulizer. Since, Mike does not have problems with the albuterol it is the iptatroprium bromide that does it to him. This combination is also in an inhaler called Combivent over here. Guest guest
I have this love and hate relationship with symbicort. It was a pain to keep track of the inhalations left in the inhaler, but they have now a counter and had several that did not have the full stated amount. I sen them back to the company, they issue dme a new one. Also had side effects, like high blood pressure and weird large red spots appearing on my arms, not like hives and they would disappear with in a week. My mouth easily gets thrush from almost all inhalers and a sore throat. My Doc told me to gargle after every inhalation with an alcohol based mouthwash that was half mouthwash, half water. It sure made a huge diffference, just rinsing with water was not as effective. Also was taken of duo-neb and it was replaced with albuterol for my nebulizer. Seems that duo-neb has some of the same meds as symbicourt, too much of a good thing ? But I love it, for it works. C-M
Guest guest
I use Nystatin. Swish and spit before using my symbicort. It prevents the thrush. You can get a script from your doc. It is cheap. Also, I know Meleluca (spelling?) has a good mouthwash that will help. Ask Carol Caruso about that one as she is the local expert on that line of products. Guest guest
With the new data on alcohol containing mouthwash, maybe a change to one based on hydrogen peroxide might be in order. If you are interested I can probably dig up the formula. Mike
Guest guest
I was Dx with asthma ten months ago, and was put on Pulmicort, and now just as of today actually my doctor put me on Symbicort, and I also use albuterol before I run. I have a chronic cough that I can't seem to get rid of, and we've tried just about everything. I even have the allergen covers on my bedding and the air purifier going. Somethings' gotta give, right? This is the first time I've logged in to this site, so I think I will find it very refreshing and helpful. > > Thanks all for the tips, I will try a mouthwash as well. I was only diagnosed 6 months ago, so I am still finding my way and finding my triggers. And my doctor is trying to find something that suits me and work, I'm seeing her every 4 weeks at the moment... I find all the information on here so useful and its very comforting to know I am not the only one. I really admire how you all cope with it, it has certainly been a shock for me. > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: asthma > Sent: Thursday, March 19, 2009 2:40:25 PM > Subject: Re: Re: Symbicort > > > With the new data on alcohol containing mouthwash, maybe a change to one based on hydrogen peroxide might be in order. If you are interested I can probably dig up the formula.. >  > Mike >
