Okay,hi guys.....

here I go again.... I know that I must sound like a paid spokesperson for

memory foam. <g>

However, I simply can't tell you what a HUGE difference it has made in my

quality of life.

After trying MANY pillows, I finally ended up with a memory foam contour

type. The first NIGHT, the fluid swelling in my neck went down. It has not

returned...

I was amazed.....

I had been using a feather bed to help with joint aches... I was hesitant to

fork out the $$$ for a Tempurpedic bed in the " hopes " that it might

help..... however I found a Memory foam ( this is what Twmpurpedic is)

mattress topped for $60. I decided that I COULD risk this.

Again, the FIRST night I felt a HUGE difference... I slept far better and

didn't have the joint aches I had experienced before. Also the neck/shoulder

spasms were almost non-existent. Amazingly my husband ( who had NOT been

sold on the idea) LOVED it.... An OLD back injury felt the best that it has

in years!!!

If I am away and sleeping on something else, I feel the difference in a

couple of days...

I agree with Marissa... I love the way soft squishy mattress and pillows

feel,,,,, they are really snuggly. <g> However, at least in my case, they

are NOT " good things " . They lack the support that we seem to need. It took

me a few nights to adjust to memory foam pillow... I would have FAR

preferred my old down one ( for the snuggly factor <g>) But the all over

benefits, to me, are definitely worth the " lack of snuggly " <g> If you think

of the spine etc as a conduit for the CSF, that so often the issue with many

of us....it's a " good thing " to keep this as straight as possible, allowing

the flow to go as naturally as possible. This is what the memory foam

does...

Also I have considered buying a Memory Foam mattress instead of just the

pad, but have decided against it. Unless, the construction has changed, a

Memory foam mattress is simply a piece of memory foam as the top layer of

something else...often regular foam. The price is fairly steep. If you use

the Memory Foam pad on top of a firm mattress ( under the bottom sheet) it

can be flipped periodically. This seems to " renew " the support of it... this

couldn't be done with the mattress.

I'll step off the soap box now...sorry to sounds like a loony on this topic.

I simply can't believe the positive differences it has made in the way that

I feel/function on a day to day basis... You might want to give it a try...

Please feel free to ask anything that may be of help to you...

Take care,

I have heard that the sleep source number bed is not comfortable and is

like a Blow up mattress so not a good choice . I hate to say this too ,

but the memory foam matteress after time the foam gets hard and breaks

off in chunks. You are paying big bucks for either so its not worth it .

I just settled for what is comfortable to me .

the info about the memory foam is valid from 2 friends that both work at

furniture stores .

Hi...

I really don't want to get into a " Memory foam war " here. <g.

There are MANY types and qualities of the memory foam. I am sure some are

pretty awful. Some have a VERY low density and do NOT give the support

necessary.

Regarding it getting hard and having chunks break off, it MIGHT happen with

some, although I have NEVER heard of it. We have had one of our pads for

almost ten years and have had NO problems with it, other than a slight

darkening. No biggie...

http://www.healthyfoundations.com/memoryfoam.html ...Here is some

information on the topic...there is a bunch more online...

You also no longer have to pay " big bucks " for it. initially Tempurpedic had

the licensing rights and could control the market and the cost. When the

patent expired the costs have come down considerably.

And yes what is comfortable is important...but not if it is making a

condition worse. Then perhaps a little less " comfort " would be a good thing.

BTW, after using this for awhile both the pillow and the mattress pad are

VERY comfortable...

Again, there are various densities.... in our case, the REAL Tempurpedic is

TOO FIRM as we keep our bedroom pretty cool and this affects the

firmness...as it is designed to do. We have chosen a " good quality " medium

density product that really seems to work. MANY are available now at a fair

price..

It's funny I hate the memory foam. I spent $20 on the pillow back before i had

my 2nd fusion. I needed something to help hold my head up since i basically

need my pillows to be head heighth since my neck does not bend to conform. I

tried it for about a week. I hurt more that week than i had hurt in a long

time, it brought on even more problems. On the bright side the dog absolutely

loves it, he lays his head on it each night. I would recommend starting with a

pillow before spending money on a mattress topper, see if you like the feel of

it and if it's something you could sleep with. Or go to a furniture store and

try laying down on some of the beds, they should have some with memory foam and

seeing how it feels on your back. I wake up with back pain every morning, but i

think that is due to the TCS that I'm too afraid to have treated.

I'm volunteering at the food bank this morning so i need to get going.

IKEA sells a mattress topper that is very soft. It is memory foam

wrapped in 100% cotton. I was able to lie on one and check it out in

the store. I am allergic to latex and did not react because of the

cotton cover which feels fairly thick. It is amazingly soft yet very

supportive. The name of the mattress pad is Sultan Tuvebo, it is a

little pricey the king sized pad is $299.

Take care of you. Big gentle huggles.

Hi, guys...

Before we get too much into this debate... TTBOMK true " memory foam " does

NOT contain latex. If I am wrong on this, I'm sorry...but I can't find

anything/anywhere that says it does. If anyone knows differently, please let

me know. It does have some " chemical additives " and could be a problem for

some people with sensitivities to these.

Some of the Memory foam MATTRESSES hare constructed with a LAYER of Latex...

but this is another whole 'nother issue. A Memory foam bed pad, should be

" Memory foam " ...no latex.

There are a variety of coverings that are being used with pads/mattresses. I

have a THIN down filled cover on on my pillow. You just have to be careful

not to have TOO THICK a covering or it defeats part of the purpose of the

memory foam. The foam is designed to react to the warmth of your body.

This IKEA one might be great... I haven't seen it myself, but I love IKEA

things! ;-}

There are LOTS of good pads on the market and just placing them under a

bottom fitted sheet gives a covering to it... and it's free <g>

As with so many things, just avoid the REALLY " cheapie " super thin ones...

they should be a good 2- 2 1/2 " .. I paid all of $60 for my first queen sized

one ! <g>

Back to the football games <g>

Hi: I just love my memory foam bed. My dh had a waterbed when I moved

in. There is about 150lbs difference in us. One time he rolled over

just as I was getting in the bed and I was launched out into the wall.

I hated that bed. I woke up stiff an sore every morning. He shopped on

the internet and found a place to make us a custome made one to fit

the waterbed frame. It took a little to get used to it, but we both

love it. If one or the other tosses and turns you don't feel it.

As I said, my dh is a very large man and has ruined other furniture.

We have had the mattress over 3 years and his side looks just like

mine it has never become hard and has a 30 yr guarentee.

I have to agree with Sally, you need to find what is right for you.

Many of these let you try them for 30 days free. I have let many

people try mine to see what they think.

Take care,
