Guest guest
Thanks Kreci ! I found it. I guess this is a new law that travel expenses for donors are being covered. I am assuming via KACC / Cost report ? Any opinions or facts to share... Guest guest
HI, Just an educated guess, it appears that there will be " grants " given to, states, transplant centers, and OPO's to help reimburse for certain expenses. The " Secretary " has to write regulations defining how potential live donors will qualify for the funding. As of now, it does not look like it will be KACC, that may change. It also does not look like all transplant centers will automatically get funds. I think that we all need to keep an eye out for any mention of Grant requests and the TFCA may want to set up a committee to monitor an regularly request of the Secretary if transplant centers should start the grant process and notify all members of the availability of the grants. Long term, if the reports on the funding for the Live Donors shows an increase in donation, they will probably change the funding to the utilization of the KACC and in the future, who knows, possibly the Liver and Lung acquisition cost centers. I am just speculating on the above and just from the reading of the Law. As you all know, what is written into law is often changed a lot when put into the regulations and instructions that we all have to work with. Thanks and I hope this helps, Bill At 11:23 AM 4/13/2004, you wrote: >Thanks Kreci !
