Just curious...what brand and dosage does everyone use? My son was on

Solaray Multidophilus (1 Billion) 3x/day. Our bottle is almost empty

and I was going to try a different brand. His OAT showed definite

signs of yeast. Anyone have any suggestions? Any luck with any

particular brands? And if so, what dosage? My son is 3 years old and

weighs 38 lbs. We are already on Diflucan and will begin Valtrex next

week. Thanks in advance for the advice!

We were recommended Klaire Ther-biotic detox. It has 50 billion I

think. We just started that one. We were told to NOT get the

complete because it has strep something in it.

Before we were on one that has been formulated for autistic kids,

called HLC Mindlinx. It has some additional probiotics that are

supposed to help with digesting proteins such as casein. It has l-

glutamine in it, which has many good qualities such as gut healing,

but it is also considered an excitotoxin by some. We liked it but

I'm not sure about the glutamine and we just restarted chelation so

we thought we'd try the Klaire.

We dose twice a day with Ther-biotic complete (25 billion) Klaire labs or Probiotic Support formula -(20 billion)-New Beginnings. You can get both from New Beginnings-www.nbnus.com.

We’ve had good luck with Ultra Flora

DF by Metagenics. Our son takes two capsules a day.

You meant that your daily dosage is 450billion per day?

Is it too much? Have you refer to your Dan! doctor?

Thanks,

Have no DAN! doc, I am an MD and have papers on this formulation of high dose probiotics helping in ulcerative colitis and prevention of pouchitis so if the gut is colonized by bad bugs, more good bugs should help.  We have not been very aggressive with antifungals and it would seem over time this problem has resolved presumably in part due to the mega-dose probiotics. You meant that your daily dosage is 450billion per day?Is it too much? FROM FAQs on www.vsl3.comCan I take VSL#3® if I have an intolerance to dairy products? Some dairy ingredients are used in the culture medium but are removed during fermentation and concentration. There might be trace amounts at very low levels and, for this reason, VSL#3® is not defined as a dairy-free product but as a non-dairy product. Evidence suggests that probiotics may be useful in the treatment of patients with lactose maldigestion and lactase deficiency. Recent studies have demonstrated that lactose is better digested from yogurt than from milk by lactase-deficient individuals and yogurt ingestion by these patients is paralleled by reduced symptoms. Many patients confirmed that their intolerance was greatly reduced with the use of VSL#3®. If you are lactose intolerant, you may wish to start with a very low intake of VSL#3® to see how you respond before increasing the amount.Back to topCan you use VSL on a casein-free diet?e> > > > > I only quite recently discovered the unbelievable importance of pro-> > > biotics as a part of this protocol. Ted,

Does this probiotic require a

prescription? Also, how long can you use it for? Thanks,

We tried the VSL#3 and it flipped my four year old out. He was so wound up that we had to stop. I have alot of it, so I might try again later, but only about a tenth of a packet. Stacie

I only quite recently discovered the unbelievable importance of pro-biotics as a part of this protocol. My 3 year old currently only receives one Pro-bio gold capsule a day (in the morning with breakfast). I believe it is 20 billion count. What is everyone else using? I see where other parents are giving much more and rotating them. What brands do you guys suggest? How much and how often do you give these? Can you give too much probiotic? Thanks for your help!

Good to know your experience, maybe there is enough casein in VSL for a particularly sensitive kid.  See my last thread, the company addresses that issue. We tried the VSL#3 and it flipped my four year old out. He was so wound up that we had to stop. I have alot of it, so I might try again later, but only about a tenth of a packet.
