Guest guest
Glad to hear you're doing better, --hang in there! We're thinking about you. BTW--saw an article in the NYTimes about the re-debut of concert pianist Byron Janis. He's 70 now--but about 30 years ago he gave up his brilliant career due to PA--he was scheduled to play in NYC a few days ago. Guest guest
Byron Janus story was on Dateline a while ago, and his story was most fascinating. He had to give up his piano playing for 7 yrs. due to PA RA (both?). Please correct me if I'm wrong. He wrote music during that period. Then he was started on methotrexate and was able to go back to being a concert pianist. Yews, he did play in NYC. There is always some kind of hope. Guest guest
The herbs are said to enhance the immune system, are anti-microbial, purify the blood, and cleanse the colon. Here is the formula. For serious disease take 2 oz. in 2 oz. of pure boiled water three times a day. We take it once a day as a preventative measure. Diet and supplements are important to its success. It is extremely important you buy the herbs from someone you can trust. You want to be sure your supplier can document success with the herbs he sells. Some dealers are substituting yellow dock for the sheep sorrel. The sheep sorrel is a vitally important ingredient. You want to be sure no insecticide or fungicide has been used on the dried herbs. Here is the formula: (Dry herbs) 6-1/4 cups Burdock root - cut 16 oz. Sheep Sorrel - powdered 1 oz. Turkey Rhubarb Root - powdered 4 oz. Slippery Elm Bark - powdered Supplies needed: 4 gallon stainless steel pot 3 gallon stainless steel pot Stainless steel fine mesh double strainer Stainless steel spoon Glass measuring cup and stainless steel funnel 12 or more 16 oz. sterilized amber glass bottles with airtight caps. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly. (I put in plastic bag and shake, then return what's left to paper bag. Store herbs in paper bag in cool dark place.) Bring 2 gallon sodium free distilled or purified water to a rolling boil in 4 gallon pot with lid on. Stir in 1 cup of the herbs. Replace lid and continue to boil slowly for 10 minutes. You may make just half of this recipe at a time if you wish - one gallon of distilled water and 1/2 cup of herbs. Turn off stove. Scrape down sides of pot with stainless steel spoon or spatula and stir mixture thoroughly. Replace lid. Allow pot to remain closed 12 hours, then turn stove to highest setting and heat to almost boil Do not let mixture boil. (I start this at 9 PM and bottle the next morning at 9 AM.) Turn off stove. Strain liquid into 3 gallon pot. Clean 4 gallon pot and strainer. Then strain filtered liquid back into 4 gallon pot. Use funnel or glass measurer to pour hot liquid into sterilized bottles immediately, taking care to tighten the caps. Allow bottles to cool; and tighten caps again. Refrigerate when cool. The herbal formula contains no preservative agents. IF mold should develop in bottle, discard immediately. CAUTION: All bottles and caps must be sterilized before filing with the herbal formula. Plastic caps must be washed and rinsed thoroughly and may be cleaned with a 3% solution of food grade hydrogen peroxide in water. (I let caps soak in 1/4 teas. Clorox in about 8 oz. of boiled water which has cooled. Then after five minutes I rinse in clear boiled, cooled water. These herbs are often referred to as the Essiac formula. The book, The Essiac Report, markets the herbs as Flor-Essence and lists where you can purchase it. Most good health stores carry it in liquid and dry form. (Flor-Essence has three additional herbs which they say make the formula more effective.) Many health food stores sell the herbs individually or already formulated and in small packets. Be sure they can give you names and phone numbers of people who have had success using those herbs before you buy them. It is your life at stake. The herbs are available in dry and liquid form under a variety of names in health food stores around the world - Flor-Essence and Essiac being the most well known and trusted. It is critical you know what you are purchasing. The expert on Essiac herbs is Elaine , 6690 Oak Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6P 3Z2 - CANADA. Her phone number is 604-261-1270. She will talk with you. Another book on the Essiac story is Calling of an Angel by L.Glum. This is in many libraries. It can be ordered from Silent Publishing or the author at P. O. Box 80098, Los Angeles, CA 90080 - phone 213-271-9931. Glum also sells the herbs. Lorraine Day, M.D., an internationally acclaimed orthopedic trauma surgeon, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has two videos in which she tells her story. To order - 1-800-574-2437. She also has a website. A picture of her tumor is on that site. http://www.drday/com Geoff Crenshaw wrote: > > From: Geoff Crenshaw <geoff@...> > > Snooks wrote: > > > The herbs are - > > burdock root > > sheep sorrel > > slippery elm > > turkey root > > > > Ethel, > > How are they taken? Guest guest
There is a parmacy in Toronto that sells Essiac tea already prepared. It costs about $40.00 per box, but it seems well worth the price. rheumatic Re: Digest Number 17 >From: Snooks <snooks@...> > >The herbs are said to enhance the immune system, are anti-microbial, >purify the blood, and cleanse the colon. Guest guest
first in reply to somebody's question, i think it is a good idea to make a big batch of plain glycerin soap adn then reheat it in batches adding different fragrences. that is what i do. okay, so i haven't made my own soap yet, just bought some to rebatch. does anybody have a plain soap recipe i could use? i tried to make some this morning and it never got the honey-loike consistancy. any suggestions i would apreciate. okay for a recipe, let's see... Vanilla Rose Bubble Bath Gel: 1/4 cup distilled water 2 tablespoons shampoo concentrate { or substitute 1/4 cup unscented shampoo and increase the salt to 1/2 teaspoon} 2 tablespoons rose water 1 tablespoon liquid glycerin 1/4 teaspoon table salt 10 drops vanilla fragrance oil 4 drops rose fragrance oil Warm the water and pour into a ceramic bowl. Add the shampoo concentrate and stir with a wire whisk until well blended. Add the rose water, liquid glycerin, salt, and fragrance oils and stir until well mixed. Bottle. Liquid glycerin can be purchased at a drugstore in the first-aid section.... Most of the ingredients in the above recipes can be purchased in either health food stores or major craft stores or herbal shops....... Also, it depends on what kind of soap you were trying to make? Was it vegetable based? Sometimes, certain types of soap will take as many as two days to get the " trace " consistency!! hope this helps! -- Sat Nam, Miyu Espiritu - http://www.wsu.edu/~miyu Coven of Avalon - http://home.earthlink.net/~miyu79
Guest guest
Re:enlarged spleen Sue- I too ave an enlarged spleen. I believe it is due to my cirrhosis and portal vein hypertension. Do you have cirrhosis? Cirrhosis can cause the blood not to flow properly thru the liver causing it to like back up into the spleen, thus enlarging. This causes problems like low platlet counts and slow clotting. I have excellent GI doctors with excellent bedside manners. Plus they are very competant. I live in Michigan- do u live near here? Or near Chicago or the Mayo clinic? Hows about North Carolina? I have met some really lousy GI docs-but a host of really good ones. Guest guest
Re: Maddie HAHAHA! Way to go, maddie! I am sitting here laughing- this is the archetypal (sp?) good news bad news story. Usually, in my mind, the scale always tips in favor of it being good news. Goes like this: Well, the good news is, Maddie had major social interaction today! The bad news is, Maddie had a major social interaction today! HAHAHAHAHA! Most of the time, when PB gets into some kinda " trouble " out in public, I try very hard to view it as what new developmental thing did he accomplish by this behavior. Usually there is something there. (Sometimes i have to dig really hard.) but helps take the sting out of things if there is an embarrassing moment about the behavior as well. Now, mind you, I am NOT young and physically fit (God only knows why not, the wayI have to race to beat PB to something) so you should see my mad dash at the grocery stores when PB has decided he is going to make a run for the restrooms. OK if he hits the ladies' room- but NOT if he runs into the men's room before I grab him. I have left my open wallet at the checkout line to grab him; I have collared him by his coat to have him almost wiggle out of the coat. Thankfully we go to the same stores in our neighborhood, and people really know us by now. Also, since he has strted to really enjoy helping me shop, he sometimes just starts throwing things in the cart, willy-nilly. One day I was trying to find a bottle of red wine and he THREW a bottle of wine into the cart. Luckily it did not break. As I carefully put the wine back in it's place, I realized the kid has good taste. It's a $119 bottle of port. EEEEEKKK!!! Last week his sitter took him to Kohl's dept. store. She knew exactly what she had to buy, and I figured PB would be okay with her. She told me he sat by a female mannekin who had a short skirt and stockings on and he sat there rubbing the legs up and down. She said she worked very fast to get them out of there! LOL!! Also, I have some good news. Ben decided to start choosing his clothes and dressing himself this morning. (Risperdol? Who knows?) He had apparently gone to the toilet on his own (which he never does- he's time trained- except for out in public, when he has to see if there are electric hand dryers in the restrooms) because the toilet was still filling up with water after the flush. He had taken off his sweat pants (dry) and underwear (dry). He was busy putting on his swim trunks. Then he carefully co-ordinated this choice with a second pair of swim trunks over the first. I made a big deal about it, and he was pleased with himself. He played for a while and then came downstairs- beautifully attired in a pair of short PJ bottoms and nothing else. I sent him back up to get a shirt, which he did, and put it on all by himself. (He has been able to do this about 1/2 the time). Then I peeked in the back of the shorts and realized he HAD put underpants on (inside out). But I am so pleased, because he has been completely passive about what he wants to wear up until recently. Some sweatshirts make him too hot, and he can take them off easily. But up until now, he always waits for me to place his clothing out on the floor for him to put on. Guess being home for a while has had it's upside!! bet, Mum to Ben,

You should have seen me an hour ago, dropping Maddie off at school. I parked but it took me TEN minutes to get her out of the car and into the building. I unhooked her car seat and she latched on and wouldn't let go of it. Giggling hysterical since she loves resistance. Finally get her out of the car and she hurls her shoe off, lands UNDER my car. Mind you, we are parked on a mound of disgusting oil and dirt filled snow. She puts her stocking foot in the filthy snow and is trying desperately to plop her body in it. I am wrestling her in the middle of the street, cars having to go around us. She's still in hysterics,,,,,,I'm not laughing. Had to throw her back in the car, close the door, use an old umbrella to get the shoe underneath. Then she went to the back of the car (we have a suburban, so she's got lots of room to run from me), I go to the back, she goes to the front. Back and forth and back and forth. FINALLY I grab her. Once I get her to the curb, she stands up straight, like the perfect little angel, takes my hand and walks in ready for her afternoon at school. My hair clip is out, my hair is hanging, my shirt is untucked, I'm completely flushed and dirty and she's got a BIG smile on her face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and Guys????????? Guest guest
Dear , The Schwartzbien Principle sounds like a lot of diets out there that avoid carbs, including starches, grains, fruit, and even more. My daughter is on something called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet that avoids starches and grains but allows monosaccharide carbs such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and honey. (She's on it for her Crohn's disease and it seems to be helping a lot.) And I have tried the no carb diet myself. In my opinion, Sally Fallon has them all beat! In spite of all the hype, I don't think unprocessed grains and starches are bad for you, unless you have inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's. I do think meat and fruit and vegetables and all other real foods are good for you. Naturally, this is only my opinion, but I think you will feel good following the principles in " Nourishing Traditions. " And I didn't feel so great when I was following the no-carb diet! I believe that real food of any sort will not hurt you as long as you don't just eat one kind of food all the time. So don't be afraid, it won't hurt you to try. Guest guest
Re: Daughter seeking help for Dad: I've had my Medtronic for almost a year, and the atrial fibs started again, with several subsequent Zaps. My Cardiologist understands that our E.P. Doctors are top-notch, and we put our faith into their hands, to let them do their analysis.(In reality, a second opinion). I/we knew that drugs were a last resort. The E.P.'s did a mapping of the heart, and DID find what was causing the Atrial Fibs! ABLATION was the correct procedure, and 6 months later, which brings me to the present, the only drugs I use are Tenormin 50 mgms, Imdur, and Coumadin. This is in line with one of my suspicions that anxiety was one of the pre-cursors of the Atrial Fibs, and if any of my family were to go thru what I did, my first thought would be to make ABSOLUTELY certain that the Cardiologist would be honest with us and would admit openly that many of the drugs are at best a " Grand Experiment " . In addition, the E.P. team, in my estimation, are suspect as to quality. DRUGS are the easy way out and a method of putting off the inevitable " Mapping " , which requires the utmost of skills. Not every E.P. is a magician, as Ablation is an art of the highest degree. Instead of playing games with drugs, play the " New Doctor " game. You name the drug, almost any usual heart drug, I've been there done that, and in 20 years since my BIG heart attack, 2 By-Pass surgeries, Balloon jobs, mini-heart attacks and about 20 episodes of Atrial Fibs, gives me a right to express my observations. IF drugs do the job, good. But to expect them to hide any hidden basic cause for problems forever is the Land of OZ. Useful drugs have turned into antagonistic drugs insidiously, and hard to notice quickly-I found that to happen to me with Quinidine! Finally, use common sense, and if 2+2 no longer =4, stand your ground and bring things out in the open and hope the Cardiologist doesn't say " Well, if you're gonna prescribe for yourself, I won't help you " Been there. Regards, Al Lidert........ doeboy@... What kind of people are these that would name a child " HUMPTY_DUMPTY " ?
