Large organic molecules like vitamins and beta carotene from nature are

often " higher quality " than man made versions. Old news.

Calcium doesn't have any such issues. I don't care if you get it from

eating fish bones or licking the rings in your bathtub. I would prefer

that people not desecrate coral reefs to get it, in the delusional

belief that it is " better. "

I have to second this. Smoking is a far greater risk for heart disease

than high cholesterol. If you smoke, stop. It is a terrible risk for

premature death, stroke, heart disease, impotence, and all manner of

circulatory problems......then, there's the whole cancer thing,

emphysema, increased lung infections......the list goes on and on.

It's also facinating to see how cheap drugs can be when the companies

don't pay any research and development costs, don't develop compounds

that don't pan out, and pay their factory workers 50 cents a day!

If I were impressed by China's total response to AIDS, that would be

one thing, but it is singularly lacking. Here, they have a chance to

stimulate their own pharmacy industry, so it's more appealing than

helping people with AIDS with food or shelter.

I totally agree.

But then China does not have a safety net of any kind for people with AIDS, seniors, the unemployed etc.

It is a country where human rights are considered irrelevant.

I wouldn't wish that type of society on anyone.

As flawed as our North American Societies are, they are FAR better than anything that China has to offer.

We should consider ourselves very fortunate!
