Guest guest
Dear Kandra, Your EN sounds quite similar to mine and I am going on 36 years of living with it. Stress, lack of sleep and overdoing all bring on EN flare-ups for me too. I have always required a lot of sleep: at least 8 hours and often 9 a night. During a flare-up, I can sleep many more hours. I think of it as my body being " under seige " and needing to rest and regroup to fight off the EN invader. I recover quickly and the lumps subside in a couple days with rest. If I don't rest the episode takes longer--up to two weeks. But remember I always get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. I know that all my " preaching bedrest " is an unpopular sermon on this group as people just can't spare the time. I think of it as " time well spent " as it tends to make my flare-up briefer. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, and there are things that help to alleviate symptoms, but rest, at least for me, is the best treatment. When my body is dog tired it is telling me it needs sleep. Love,
Guest guest
Kandra, There is also the possibility that the complete exhaustion is a side effect from other things as well. A thyroid condition can cause it and in my experience sugar can cause it. I am prediabetic and when I avoid sugar the exhaustion actually gets better. I also suffer from hypothyroidism and take medication to regulate it. Right now I find myself dozing off at work several times a day. Not a good thing! Has your dr ruled out a thyroid condition among other things? Terri -- who is sleep deprived and feeling it - out of sorts and feeling confused among other things --- kandrawitkowski wrote: > I am new to the group and am looking for a little > advice or at least > a couple responces to let me know I'm not crazy. Guest guest
Dear kandra, 100 people over for a pig roast! Just imagininging that would throw me into a flare-up! Well, now you learned a valuable lesson and next time someone else can have the roast at HER house. It is so much easier to take over a side dish! ;-) For me part of handling my EN was learning my limitations. Love,
Guest guest
Dear Kandra, You have a great fighting spirit and that's great! EN can slow us down at times, but hopefully it doesn't stop us. We recently started an " EN Hall of Fame " on the site where we write about things that we have accomplished in spite of having EN or PG. It is under our Files. I have had to make adjustments in that I needed to do a " desk job " rather than a standing job. Hubby and I also ran our own business for about 10 years. We both had down time, but managed to get through it. Being married to a wonderful man is a great blessing. We fill in for each other when one of us is down. We've been together nearly 32 years now. Most of our time has been spent together. We think of ourselves as a team and it's worked out perfectly. He knew I had EN before we married. He was not concerned about anything but knowing if it was " contageous " , which of course it isn't. :-) Love,
