hi i'm new here and have just received a diagnosis of thyroiditis

and chronic fatigue syndrome.

i see these articles are very old. this one dates back to 1997 and

was wondering if there are any more current articles ? my doctor

told me that my thyroid has nothing to do with the chronic fatigue

syndrome so that is why i was wondering if you had anything more up

to date regarding this ?

my doctor did not give me any medication for either of these things.

he told me to take some different kinds of vitamins and told me to

come back in 6 weeks to see if i felt better. if not, he said he

will run some more blood tests. i don't know if the tests you are

talking about were run or not. i guess i should call on monday and

ask if he run t3 and t4? he did tell me my tsh was high but i do not

know any numbers. i am trying to learn as much as i can via the

internet but i have to watch my time as i am limited.

what kind of medications should i ask to be given for hashimotos

thyroiditis and chronic fatigue syndrome if these vitamins do not

make me feel better ?

gloria

Gloria, if you have CFS, you need to be treated by a specialist.

Conventional docs have no clue about it, and most alternative ones

have a best a small clue. At the risk of sounding like a broken

record to the rest of the group, I suggest checking out the Clymer

Healing Research Centers, www.chronicfatigue.org, which claims to be

the premier center for CFS research and treatment in the US, if not

the world. It's non-profit, they work with most of their patients

at a distance, and they are very nice. I can't tell you from

personal experience how well their treatment works, as I have not

yet started it, but they claim they can cure any case. There is no

medication for CFS, but there are glandular supports (supplements),

as well as lifestyle modifications you should make (sleep more,

stress less, etc.).

For the thyroid, the rest of the group will probably recommend

Armour to you. I take only a thyroid glandular recommended by a

previous doctor. This is the difference between taking a

medication, which replaces what your thyroid is no longer making,

and taking glandular substances, which I understand give you some

hormone but without causing your gland to atrophy further, like the

medications do. However, I am hypothyroid without having Hashi's

(probably because of the CFS), and every case is different.

I hope you get to feeling better!
