Guest guest
yup, its crazy. Reminds me of the 'Truvia'; commercials... " here, we are giving you Stevia. Its all natural, and since we couldn't leave well enough alone, we took just extracts from it and added 'natural flavors' just for kicks " Speaking of getting fish oil out of things, have people seen theGlaxoKline commercials for " Lovaza " yet? White-coated scientists withclipboards and computers, in an honest-to-god " under-sea " laboratory, look out through huge glass portals onto a world of fish, to observe apparentlynew horizons in healthcare. " The only FDA-approved fish oil " .. " you can'tbuy it in a healthfood store " , and at a recommended dose of 4 capsules per day (~3400mg EPA/DHA) it sells for " only " $240.00 per month. The commercialhas a whole sub-narrative of side-effects (like burping), as if theside-effects are another mantle of pharmaceutical legitimacy. If this isn't alternative health wrapped up and sold in the religious paradigm ofwestern science, I don't know what is. Of course fish oil by itself wouldnever do, so they've added tocopherols in a carrier of soybean oil, gelatin, glycerol, and purified water. Lovaza's major claim to fame is it's purportedpurity, but there is no evidence I can find to date that it has any morepurity than any other fish oil, nor is there any indication that I've seen of it's source.Bob -- Dr. Pregohttp://doctorprego.comBlog: http://drprego.blogspot.com Recipient of NYANP's 'Physician of the Year' awardVoted 'Best Alternative Doctor' by the Long Island PressLong Island Naturopathic, Inc.560 Main St, Suite 4Islip NY 117511 Fax: drprego@...
