I have not been there, but I know many great things about that hospital.

There are truly dedicated doctors and nurses there, and the rest of the

staff. You will be in the best of hands there. These people know what

they are doing, and are doing it in the best of heart!! Very educated

people there!! Relax, and let them help you.

Madeline,

I haven't been there yet, but I'm scheduled for the last week of

October. They told me to plan on being there a week. I meet with my

main pulmonologist there on Monday morning for a 2 hour session, then

go for more tests & more drs throughout the week. If I have a

procedure done it will be on Friday and I won't be allowed to leave

town that day. I don't have my full schedule yet, they said they'd

send it about a month ahead of time. I should know more by then.

It takes quite awhile to get an appointment and it took a really long

time for them to argue things out with my insurance. All set now

though.

Good luck! :-)

Re: Jewish Hospital

Hi all. Thanks for your responses. I am currently in the hospital again. I believe I posted this on Monday and had to call the ambulance Monday night late. Maybe I will get home tomorrow(LOL)... my peak flows are only 150 today & I am only moving air in the top 1/4 of my lungs. Looks like I'll be here at least another couple of days!Kate, please update me when you go. My doc is currentlyin the process of negotiating with my insurance (Workers Comp has actually taken responsibility - so extra red tape but they pay better - no out of pocket for travel, lodging or medical to me). When did you start your process? Hopefully this can get expedited since I can't stay out of the hospital for more that a week or two at a time right now. I am very reactive, but I have luckily been able to avoid the ventilator (by the skin of my teeth this time!). > > >> > > Has anyone been sent to Jewish National Hospital in Denver, > Colorado?> > > I have been in the hospital for four weeks since May 16th, and my> > > asthma specialist says that I need to go for a full workup? Oh Madeline, I'm so sorry! I know how frustrating this all can be.

I spent a month in the hospital and then 2 weeks in the last 1 1/2

years.

I hope they can push things through for you at National Jewish. As I

said, my appointment isn't until the end of October and my dr started

working on it somewhere around March/April. Are you close to

Denver? I'm in Oregon and unfortunately my insurance is only going

to cover the hospital & dr costs. I have to pay for my flight, a

hotel room for a week & all other expenses.

Hopefully they can at least get you home on a tolerable level of

steroids. Are they trying to decrease and keep setting you back

off? They probably need to do a VERY slow taper.

Wishing you well!

Hi Madeline,

I hope you are feeling better.

Have you contacted an attorney?

Seems like the company should at least be picking up your medical

expenses -

since they were the cause of the problem, no?

Hi guys. I am still here in the hospital in Gainesville, Georgia! I

gave my pulmonologist a good chuckle this morning when I asked if I

could go home. So.....I guess that means at least a couple more

days. I really hope to go home by Saturday - I don't want my birthday

cake in the hospital. Ripe old 36!!! LOL. I spent last years

birthday in the hospital - I hope I'm not making a pattern out of

this!

I want to thank you all for your thoughts. This has been a little

bit of a hard day, and it really helps to really know that other

people have been where I am now. It really helps give me hope for

the future. My girls started school today, and I wasn't there to

take care of them this morning. I do realize that this really

bothers me more than it bothers them. They understand that mom has

to have some extra medicine right now. They are really great kids

(ages 9-4th grade and 13-8th grade).

Financially I am very very lucky. Workers Comp has taken full

responsibility of my health situation as it is right now. They are

paying 100% of medical, travel, lodging, etc.... When the red tape

is all done that is. There will be some negotiation on the side of

National Jewish Hospital to iron out a fee schedule, but my

understanding from my doctors is that the schedule WC uses is

actually more than most private insurances. So, I am not expecting a

long drawn out approval process. Hopefully everything will continue

to be as smooth as it has been with them so far. I am also getting

paid weekly by WC. It is about 70% of my former bring home pay, but

on the upside I am not paying for gas or eating out. So, I am

actually looking at about the same amount of income in the budget

that I had before.

Thanks again for your support.

Thank you for noticing. I was taught that life isn't fair, and that

my attitude and outlook are the only things totally under my

control. Right now it is not very easy, but I am continually

reminding myself of all the good things. And having this group forum

just to be able to share helps me think about all of the good things,

not just sit in the chair and brood. Thanks for being here for me.

Praying for the strength to not murder my hubby at the moment - he's

stressing me out - Madeline
