Guest guest
I'm in the porcess of getting disability too, but I haven't been diagnosed with CFS yet. Do you think I could get diagnosed by my family practitioner? Tangie

Guest guest
Christie, I have severe allergies and I have symptoms of candida. I believe my conditions have caused me to be so sick. Tangie ________________________________ I also have had a diagnosis of cfs and fm. Although I found out later that the conditions are due to lyme and candida among other infections. THese are the things that have caused me to be sick I mean. Christie
Guest guest
I got diagnosed by my family doctor as well as getting diagnosed by 2 other doctors (CFS specialist & rhuematologist). I wanted to do my best to have my application accepted so I tried to cover all bases thoroughly. These 3 doctors have no connection to each other. Good luck and let us know if we can help. We're here for you! > > I'm in the porcess of getting disability too, but I haven't been diagnosed with CFS yet. Guest guest
how are you getting disability without a diagnosis? From what I understand you need more than one issue before they will give it to you I'm in the porcess of getting disability too, but I haven't been diagnosed with CFS yet. Do you think I could get diagnosed by > my family practitioner? , A doctor who believes in your symptoms is necessary, a CFS diagnosis is helpful since the SSA has a CFS ruling by which to judge CFS cases (< http://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/rulings/di/01/SSR99-02-di-01.html >). However, it is NOT necessary to have more than one issue to qualify for disability. What is necessary to qualify for SSA disability benefits is to be unable to work for at least 5 months and be expected to be unable to work for at least a year including the previous 5 months. That presumes you cannot work reliably, and reliable work means taking very little sick leave, a few days a year, but check with an SSDI/SSI attorney about that. What is then necessary is to explain how your symptoms prevent you from working. I couldn't explain a thing about why I couldn't work until I learned more about orthostatic intolerance because I didn't have a clue. But pain was not my major symptom. I believed I suffered menopause symptoms due to symptoms developing around menses. Who gets disability for menopause symptoms? Being unable to get out of bed without really having any understanding why, feeling dizzy and nauseous at work most days without having flu were major symptoms, alongside being unable to function after getting back to work, relapsing a few days later, and, being significantly cognitively challenged while working which was way more obvious to those around me than to myself. Oh, and, my personal life, my house and personal business, had long since gone to hell. Here are some shorter and longer articles about applying for SSDi/SSI which have helped several achieve SSA disability benefits on their first application, including me: http://www.geocities.com/CFSnova/ssdinotes.html toni
