Dear Jeff,

Checking in before bed I just had to tell you that your last post was

one of the most thoughtful ones I have ever read. Your suggestions on

where to begin as well as why makes so much sense. After reading the

frustrated posts by many members I am convinced that you know more

than most of our doctors. I know your experiences did not come easy.

I have mentioned it before, but I must again express my appreciation

for your huge contribution to this Group. In a world where so many

want to " get theirs and be on their way " you have taken the time and

effort to help others. I know I speak for the whole group when I say

Thank you, and God Bless you Jeff!

Love,

Hi ,

You really are too gracious, you know that? But I do appreciate the

nice comments and I thank you. With such a sketchy history on

littleknockworst, I hesitate sometimes, I am likely way off base,

hope I am. I think there is nothing worse than the hopeless feeling

one gets with a disease but the dots won't connect. I would never

wish that on anyone. If one person can avoid that situation and at

least have some hope that they are on the right track, what a relief.

Maybe this story might help someone. At Univ of Mich, I have been

the subject of something called a Clinical Study. The latest one I

have been involved with was just a year ago. With a problem case,

such as mine, you will come in and a team of their docs and med

students come see you and examine you in small groups. At one

sitting you will see 30 to 40 docs. Yes, most are students. You are

not allowed to discuss anything with them, they can't ask you

questions, but they can examine you. This activitity is 2 fold.

They take your case on from scratch as a problem case. They review

your med records, read your history and examine you, but they don't

know anything about how you have been treated. They in-turn get

to " practice " . They will go back and " problem solve " and they will,

as a group, come back with a recommended treatment. I have been

involved with this in 2 instances. I waited at the hospital all

afternoon until they came out of their meeting, because I wanted to

know right away what their recommendation was. BTW, this cost me

NOTHING. ly, if you are a problem case, I dont' know how you

can beat it! In both instances, they where right on and the treatment

greatly improved my situation.

I repeat this personal story here in case someone might benefit. My

personal goal is no one has to go through what I did, what I

mentioned early on, having feelings of hopelessness.

You are too sweet too Jo. I can only wish I knew what most docs know.

You are most welcome, Jeff.....But believe me, you MAY be well ahead of most of the doctors.....(anyway from what I have seen!)

Take good care of yourself!
