Guest guest
Hi Lynn - I have to admit as a doula, it's hard for me to stand by and watch women's body speeded up so there babies are born on an OB's time. I have had many clients who have purposely stayed home and labored at home, until their comfort levels became a question, then they have called me, and said it's time. One of my biggest gripes is the amount of unnecessary VE's that are performed. Many of my clients now, refuse to have fingers in their vagina's (which as we know can introduce infection) until they really feel their contractions coming on a regular basis. Also, I could never understand if your water breaks and it's trickling *out* then how is any water going to rush up past the trickle and get *in* the uterus. This is for mothers who wish to labor in a Jacuzzi, to combat perhaps back labor due to an OP baby. Just a few of my thoughts. Guest guest
Okay, now I'm a little lost about this IRC or WXYZ stuff. I'm kinda new at computing so maybe someone can give me specific directions on how to get into the " chat " when it all gets set up. I love hearing all about the differences across our population in regard to practices. Maybe we can get into more of this. I think my area is far behind in letting a woman make her own choices for childbirth. She gets labeled a " granola woman " if she wants things to go naturally. I had a great birth experience with a couple about a year ago. She labored in a warm pool to the CD " Titanic " (I love that CD), got out of the pool, pushed and delivered very easily with the lights dim. She even was a photographer and felt so good afterward she was snapping pictures of her husband and baby! Kathy H.

Guest guest
Hi, Kathy and all of the other girls, I am in my early 30's. I also feel women today are not allowed to do things naturally. Whenever a pt comes in and she is only ft-2cm or maybe her water has broken but not contracting and she comes in and is talking about this " natural stuff, " I automatically feel bad for her. It seems like the docs do not have time for the moms to let their bodies work and labor naturally. They come in, their water is broken and pit is started! The pt's don't even have a clue. I never open my mouth because I am sure I would pay dearly for it. I have worked in two very different hosp with in the last 15 months. My girlfriend, also an L & D nurse, delivered this week. After working in 2 very different hosp and seeing what my girlfriend went through...I would never go into the hosp unless I had labored at home for as long as I could. If I am ever blessed with being able to have a child in the future I surely want things to go as natural as possible. Lynn
Guest guest
Hi, Marna. This infuriates me that you have to protect yourself this way. Well, I certainly have a plan for myself, to do the laboring at home! Have a good day. Lynn
